Claims (8)

  1. チタン含有基板を表面処理するための方法であって、
    チタン含有表面を有する基板を準備し、
    前記チタン中に炭素を拡散させるのに十分な高さで且つ538℃未満の温度に前記基板を加熱し、
    前記基板中に炭素を拡散させて1種以上の炭化物及び格子間炭素を含む表面層を形成するのに十分な時間、二酸化炭素及び/又は一酸化炭素を含む炭素含有ガスに前記表面を接触させる
    ことを含む方法。
  2. 前記基板が、Ti−6−4、Ti−17、Ti−4−4−2、Ti−6−2−4−2、Ti−8−1−1及びチタン含有超合金からなる群から選択されるチタン含有合金である、請求項1記載の方法。
  3. 前記基板を、前記炭素含有ガスに接触させる前に清浄にすることをさらに含む、請求項1又は請求項2に記載の方法。
  4. 前記炭素含有ガスが、メタン、プロパン、エチレンガス、アセチレン及びこれらの組合せからなる群から選択されるガスをさらに含む、請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
  5. 前記炭素含有ガスが、アルゴン、ヘリウム又は水素を含む群から選択される非反応性ガスをさらに含む、請求項4記載の方法。
  6. 前記接触段階が48〜1500時間で行われる、請求項1乃至請求項請求項5のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
  7. 前記接触段階が48〜1000時間行われる、請求項6記載の方法。
  8. 前記基板が400℃に加熱される、請求項1乃至請求項請求項7のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
