Abstract
Description
本発明は、米国特許法119条(e)(35 U.S.C.§119(e))に基づき、本明細書に全文を援用している2003年3月13日出願のジョン・M・ベルシア(John M.Belcea)による米国特許仮出願第60/453,965号の優先権を主張する。
発明の分野
本発明は、無線ネットワークに接続されている移動通信加入者装置の位置を正確に計算するシステムおよび方法に関する。より詳しくは、本発明は標準偏差誤差を減らす測定重み付けアルゴリズムを含む予測フィルタの利用に関し、移動通信加入者の位置をより正確に特定する。
移動無線電話ネットワーク等の無線通信ネットワークは、過去10年にわたりますます普及している。これらの無線通信ネットワークは、ネットワーク・インフラがサービスエリアを「セル」と呼ばれる複数の区域に分けるように構成されているため、一般に「セルラー・ネットワーク」と呼ばれる。地球規模のセルラー・ネットワークは、サービスエリア全体にわたり指定された場所に地理的に分布する、複数の相互接続された基地局または基地ノードを含む。基地ノードは1個以上のトランシーバを含み、その各々が、無線周波数(RF)通信信号等の電磁信号を、サービスエリア内に位置する無線電話機等の移動ユーザー・ノードとの間で送受信する能力を備える。通信信号は例えば、所望の変調技術により変調され、データ・パケットとして送信された音声データを含む。当業者に理解されるように、ネットワーク・ノードはデータ・パケット通信を、時分割多重アクセス(TDMA)フォーマット、符号分割多重アクセス(CDMA)フォーマット、あるいは周波数分割多重アクセス(FDMA)フォーマット等の多重化フォーマットで送受信可能であり、これにより基地ノードにおいて単一のトランシーバが、自身のサービスエリア内の複数の移動ノードと同時に通信可能になる。
本発明の目的は、都市や建物内部等の特定の環境内で用いられる無線ネットワークに接続されている移動通信加入者装置の位置の計算精度を向上させるシステムおよび方法を提供することである。
以下に述べるシステムおよび方法は、予測フィルタを実装してアドホック・ネットワーク内で実行される位置特定サービス動作の品質を向上させる。特に、フィルタを用いるシステムおよび方法は、無線ネットワークに接続された移動通信加入者装置の位置を計算すべく動作して、建物等の障害物の内部および周囲でのネットワーク動作の間に典型的に生じる悪条件下でも性能を向上させるべく適合されている。当該フィルタは、移動通信加入者装置の中央処理装置(CPU)に実装可能である。当該フィルタはまた、通常は利用可能なCPU時間がより長いホストCPUまたはリモートサーバで実行することができる。

Claims (21)
- 通信ネットワーク内の移動通信装置の位置を特定する方法であって、
前記移動通信装置と複数の基準点の間の各々の距離を表わす測定データに基づいて前記移動通信装置の位置を推定するステップと、
位置を推定する際に古い測定データよりも新たに測定されたデータを重要視する忘却係数を含む予測フィルタを用いて前記推定位置を修正して、前記移動通信装置の位置を表わす修正された推定位置を生成するステップとを含む方法。 - 前記修正ステップが、3座標軸上における前記移動通信装置の移動を予測し、予測した移動を、前記予測フィルタを用いて調整して、前記修正された推定位置を確定する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記修正ステップが、前記予測フィルタによる修正に従い、前記移動通信装置の初期位置を表わす変数および前記移動通信装置の移動速度を表わす変数を含む方程式を用いて、前記移動を予測する、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記方程式が、3個の方程式系を含み、前記系の各々が、移動の各軸に関連しており、前記忘却係数を用いて各軸における推定初期位置の座標および各軸に沿った移動速度を調整する、請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記ネットワークが無線アドホック・ピアツーピア通信ネットワークを含み、前記移動通信装置が前記無線アドホック・ピアツーピア通信ネットワーク内のノードである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記移動通信装置が、前記推定および前記修正ステップを実行する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記忘却係数が0〜1の間に値を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 通信ネットワーク内の移動通信装置の位置をプロセッサが特定できるようにする、コンピュータ可読な命令の媒体であって、
前記プロセッサを制御して、前記移動通信装置と複数の基準点の間の各々の距離を表わす測定データに基づいて前記移動通信装置の位置を推定させるべく適合されている第1の命令の組と、
前記プロセッサを制御して、位置を推定する際に古い測定データよりも新たに測定されたデータを重要視する忘却係数を含む予測フィルタを用いて前記推定位置を修正して、前記移動通信装置の位置を表わす修正された推定位置を生成させるべく適合されている第2の命令の組とを含む、コンピュータ可読な命令の媒体。 - 前記第2の命令の組が、前記プロセッサを制御して、3座標軸上における前記移動通信装置の移動を予測し、予測した移動を、前記予測フィルタを用いて調整して、前記修正された推定位置を確定させるべく適合されている、請求項8に記載のコンピュータ可読な命令の媒体。
- 前記第2の命令の組が、前記プロセッサを制御して、前記予測フィルタによる修正に従い、移動通信装置の初期位置を表わす変数および移動通信装置の移動速度を表わす変数を含む方程式を用いて、前記移動を予測させるべく適合されている、請求項9に記載のコンピュータ可読な命令の媒体。
- 前記方程式が、3個の方程式系を含み、前記系の各々が、移動の各軸に関連しており、前記忘却係数を用いて各軸における推定初期位置の座標および各軸に沿った移動速度を調整する、請求項10に記載のコンピュータ可読な命令の媒体。
- 前記ネットワークが無線アドホック・ピアツーピア通信ネットワークを含み、前記移動通信装置が前記無線アドホック・ピアツーピア通信ネットワーク内のノードである、請求項8に記載のコンピュータ可読な命令の媒体。
- 前記プロセッサが、前記推定および前記修正動作を実行すべく、前記移動通信装置に採用されている、請求項8に記載のコンピュータ可読な命令の媒体。
- 前記忘却係数が0〜1の間に値を有する、請求項8に記載のコンピュータ可読な命令の媒体。
- 通信ネットワーク内の移動通信装置の位置を特定するシステムであって、
前記移動通信装置と複数の基準点の間の各々の距離を表わす測定データに基づいて前記移動通信装置の位置を推定すべく適合されていて、更に、位置を推定する際に古い測定データよりも新たに測定されたデータを重要視する忘却係数を含む予測フィルタを用いて前記推定位置を修正して、前記移動通信装置の位置を表わす修正された推定位置を生成すべく適合されているプロセッサを含むシステム。 - 前記修正動作が、3座標軸上における前記移動通信装置の移動を予測し、予測した移動を、前記予測フィルタを用いて調整して、前記修正された推定位置を確定する、請求項15に記載のシステム。
- 前記修正動作が、前記予測フィルタによる修正に従い、移動通信装置の初期位置を表わす変数および移動通信装置の移動速度を表わす変数を含む方程式を用いて、前記移動を予測する、請求項16に記載のシステム。
- 前記方程式が、3個の方程式系を含み、前記系の各々が、移動の各軸に関連しており、前記忘却係数を用いて各軸における推定初期位置の座標および各軸に沿った移動速度を調整する、請求項17に記載のシステム。
- 前記ネットワークが無線アドホック・ピアツーピア通信ネットワークを含み、前記移動通信装置が前記無線アドホック・ピアツーピア通信ネットワーク内のノードである、請求項15に記載のシステム。
- 前記移動通信装置が、前記推定および前記修正動作を実行するプロセッサを含む、請求項15に記載のシステム。
- 前記忘却係数が0〜1の間に値を有する、請求項15に記載のシステム。
