- 各燃料電池が、流れ区域入口(14)を有する燃料流れ区域(12)を有する、隣接した燃料電池の配列を有しかつ燃料入口マニホールドシステムを含む燃料電池スタック(11)であって、燃料入口マニホールドシステムは、
各段が、表面の対向する縁部において通路(24〜26)で終わっている表面を有する、一系列の段(17〜23)を有するカスケード領域(15)であって、この系列内の最後の段を除いて各段の各通路は、これ系列内の次の段の表面に燃料を導き、この系列の最後の段の通路は、カスケード出口表面(41)上に燃料を導き、それによって、燃料が、この通路と平行でない寸法方向に広がる、カスケード領域(15)と、
流れ区域入口とカスケード出口表面との間に配置された開いたキャビティ(46)と、
を備えることを特徴とする、燃料電池スタック(11)。 - 各燃料電池が、流れ区域入口(14)を有する燃料流れ区域(12)を有する、隣接した燃料電池の配列を有する燃料電池スタック(11)であって、
供給源から燃料の流れを提供する手段と、
n+1個の流れを提供するように、連続してn回(ただし、nは3以上)、燃料の流れを実質的に等しく二つの実質的に同時の流れに分割する手段(15)と、
流れ区域入口に燃料の実質的に均一な単一の流れを提供するように、n+1個の流れから燃料を広げる手段(41)と、
を有することを特徴とする、燃料電池スタック(11)。 - 各燃料電池が、流れ区域入口(14)を有する燃料流れ区域(12)を有する、隣接した燃料電池の配列を有する燃料電池スタック(11)に、燃料を提供する方法であって、
供給源から燃料の流れを提供し、
n+1個の流れを提供するように、連続してn回(ただし、nは3以上)、燃料の流れを実質的に等しく二つの実質的に同時の流れに分割し(15)、
流れ区域入口に燃料の実質的に均一な単一の流れを提供するように、n+1個の流れから燃料を広げる(41)、
ことを含むことを特徴とする、燃料電池スタック(11)に燃料を提供する方法。 - 各燃料電池が、流れ区域入口を有する燃料流れ区域を有する、隣接した燃料電池の配列を有する燃料電池スタックであって、
供給源から燃料の流れを提供する手段と、
流れ区域入口と流体連通するキャビティ内の表面と、
前記供給源と流体連通し、燃料の流れを受け取る複数のオリフィスと、
を備えており、
前記オリフィスは、前記表面に実質的に垂直に燃料を導き、それによって、前記オリフィスのそれぞれからの燃料の流れが、方向を変え、前記表面に沿い、前記キャビティを通り、流れ区域入口内へと全方向性に広がることを特徴とする燃料電池スタック。
