Abstract
【解決手段】液晶パネル104は、TFT基板及び対向基板と、それらの間に封入された液晶からなる液晶層とにより構成されている。液晶層中には、電圧無印加時に液晶分子を所定の方向に傾斜されるポリマーが形成されている。データドライバ102は、表示信号出力部と、表示信号監視部とにより構成されている。表示信号出力部は、デジタルの表示信号RGBを入力し、所定のタイミングで各データバスライン115にアナログの表示信号を出力する。表示信号監視部は、フレーム毎に表示信号の変化を監視し、表示信号が黒表示から白又は中間調表示に変化したときに、表示信号出力部を制御して、白又は中間調表示電圧を供給する前に、データバスライン115にグレー電圧を出力させる。

Claims (14)
- 相互に対向して配置された第1及び第2の基板と、
前記第1及び第2の基板の間に封入された液晶からなる液晶層と、
電圧無印加時に液晶分子を所定の方向に傾斜させるプレチルト手段と、
前記液晶層に電圧を印加して液晶分子の配向状態を変化させる電極と、
前記電極に表示信号を供給する表示信号出力部と、
フレーム毎の前記表示信号の変化を監視し、表示信号が第1の電圧から前記第1の電圧よりも高い第2の電圧に変化するときに、前記表示信号出力部を制御して前記第2の電圧を供給する前に前記第1の電圧と前記第2の電圧との中間の第3の電圧を前記電極に供給させる表示信号監視部と
を有することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1の電圧が、黒表示電圧であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第3の電圧が、白表示時における透過率の1乃至10%となる電圧であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記プレチルト手段が、前記液晶層中に形成したポリマーであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記プレチルト手段が、前記第1及び第2の基板のうちの少なくとも一方の基板の表面に設けられてラビング処理が施された配向膜であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記プレチルト手段が、前記第1及び第2の基板のうちの少なくとも一方の基板の表面に設けられて紫外線照射処理が施された配向膜であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記プレチルト手段による液晶分子のプレチルト角(基板面と液晶分子の長軸とのなす角度)が88°以上、且つ90°未満であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記液晶の誘電率異方性が負であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第3の電圧を印加する時間が、1フレーム期間以下であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1及び第2の基板のうちの少なくとも一方の基板に、複数の配向制御用構造物が設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記配向制御用構造物が、誘電体からなる突起であることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記配向制御用構造物が、前記電極に設けられたスリットであることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記スリットの幅が5μm以下であることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記配向制御用構造物の間隔が25μm以上であることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の液晶表示装置。
