Abstract
【解決手段】 本発明に係るガラス体製造方法は、(1) ガラスパイプ11の内壁面にガラス層12を形成するガラス層形成工程と、(2) ガラス層12の内壁面に保護層13を形成する保護層形成工程と、(3) 保護層13およびガラス層12と共にガラスパイプ11を縮径する縮径工程と、(4) 保護層13の内側の空間が潰れる前に保護層13を除去する保護層除去工程と、(5) ガラス層12と共にガラスパイプ11を中実化してガラス体1を製造する中実化工程と、を備える。縮径工程において、ガラスパイプ11の粘性よりガラス層12の粘性が低く、ガラス層12の粘性より保護層13の粘性が高い。

Claims (6)
- ガラスパイプの内壁面にガラス層を形成するガラス層形成工程と、
前記ガラス層形成工程の後に前記ガラス層の内壁面に保護層を形成する保護層形成工程と、
前記保護層形成工程の後に前記保護層および前記ガラス層と共に前記ガラスパイプを縮径する縮径工程と、
前記縮径工程の際に前記保護層の内側の空間が潰れる前に前記保護層を除去する保護層除去工程と、
前記保護層除去工程の後に前記ガラス層と共に前記ガラスパイプを中実化してガラス体を製造する中実化工程と、
を備え、
前記縮径工程において、前記ガラスパイプの粘性η1より前記ガラス層の粘性η2が低く、前記ガラス層の粘性η2より前記保護層の粘性η3が高い、
ことを特徴とするガラス体製造方法。 - 前記縮径工程において前記ガラスパイプの粘性η1より前記保護層の粘性η3が低いことを特徴とする請求項1記載のガラス体製造方法。
- 前記縮径工程において前記ガラスパイプの粘性η1と前記ガラス層の粘性η2との比(η1/η2)が50以上であることを特徴とする請求項2記載のガラス体製造方法。
- 前記ガラス体は、石英ガラスをホスト材料とする光ファイバ母材または光ファイバ母材中間体であることを特徴とする請求項1記載のガラス体製造方法。
- 前記ガラス層は、Ge酸化物,P酸化物,Al酸化物,B酸化物,Ga酸化物,Y酸化物,La酸化物およびF元素のうちの何れかが添加された石英ガラスである、ことを特徴とする請求項4記載のガラス体製造方法。
- 前記ガラス層は、希土類元素,Bi元素,Sb元素,Sn元素およびTe元素のうちの何れかが更に添加されている、ことを特徴とする請求項5記載のガラス体製造方法。
