北海道天塩山系で9月に採集されたササの乾燥葉を、加圧熱水抽出タンクに入れ、125℃で10分処理し、冷却水で熱水を80℃程度まで冷却し、エキスと含水固形分をスクリュープレスで分離して、含水率を約50質量%とした。次に、約50質量%含水固形分をオートクレーブに入れ、180℃で10分、飽和水蒸気による加圧熱処理を行った。処理した含水固形分を、再度加圧熱水抽出タンクに入れて110℃で5分処理してエキスを抽出させた。第1回目と第2回目のエキスを合わせ、珪藻土濾過し、固形分50質量%となるまで減圧濃縮し、110〜130℃の流動殺菌処理をしてササエキスを得た。
このササエキス中の硫黄含有量は3850μg/ml(7.7mg/固形分1g)であった。

実施例1で製造した石けんを、前頭部が完全に禿げ上がった患者(55歳、男性)が使用した。毎日1回、石けんの泡を約10分間程度禿頭部に付着させた後、洗い流した。約3週間程度で、禿頭部に産毛が生えてきた。

実施例1で製造した石けんを、前頭部が完全に禿げ上がった患者(65歳、男性)が使用した。毎日1回、石けんの泡をつけたガーゼを約10分間程度禿頭部に付着させた後、洗い流した。約2ヶ月程度で、禿頭部に明確な発毛が認められた。
