Abstract
【解決手段】燃料電池の固体電解質は、その内部に一つ以上の内部電極を持ち、固体電解質の内部に透過した燃料あるいは酸化剤をそれぞれ酸化あるいは還元するために、内部電極を電気化学的に分極させる分極手段を燃料電池の内部に設ける。

実施例1は、図1に基づく本発明の燃料電池1を作製および分析するものである。
実施例2は、図3、4に基づく本発明の燃料電池1を作製および分析するものである。
実施例1および実施例2において、本発明の燃料電池またはMEAのリーク水素ガス濃度が比較用燃料電池またはMEAのリーク水素ガス濃度より低い理由は以下のように説明することができる。

6:内部電極 7:真正固体電解質 8:負荷
9:スイッチ 10:導体あるいは抵抗体

Claims (9)
- プロトン伝導体からなる固体電解質と該固体電解質の一方の側に設けられた燃料電極と他方の側に設けられた酸化剤電極とを有する燃料電池において、
前記固体電解質はその内部に一つ以上の内部電極を持ち、該固体電解質の内部に透過した燃料あるいは酸化剤をそれぞれ酸化あるいは還元するために、該内部電極を電気化学的に分極させる分極手段を燃料電池の内部に有することを特徴とする燃料電池。 - 前記分極手段は、前記内部電極と前記燃料電極あるいは前記酸化剤電極との間に電気化学的閉回路を形成する閉回路形成手段である請求項1に記載の燃料電池。
- 前記閉回路形成手段は、前記内部電極と前記燃料電極あるいは前記酸化剤電極との間に介在させた固体電解質部分と電子伝導性固体電解質部分との複合体を介在させる手段である請求項2に記載の燃料電池。
- 前記電子伝導性固体電解質部分は、プロトン伝導性の電解質と黒鉛粒子あるいはカーボンファイバーとの混合物を層状に形成したものである請求項3に記載の燃料電池。
- 前記分極手段は、前記内部電極と前記燃料電極あるいは前記酸化剤電極との間を電子伝導体の導体あるいは抵抗体を介して接続する手段である請求項1に記載の燃料電池。
- 前記内部電極は、電極触媒とプロトン伝導性の高分子電解質との混合物を層状に形成した電極である請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載の燃料電池。
- 前記固体電解質は、高分子電解質膜である請求項1〜6のいずれかに記載の燃料電池。
- 前記内部電極は、前記固体電解質を該内部電極で分離するようにあるいは部分的に分離するように配置されている請求項1〜7のいずれかに記載の燃料電池。
- 燃料として水素またはメタノールを用いる請求項1〜8のいずれかに記載の燃料電池。
