Abstract
【解決手段】超音波を引加した研磨用工具3をダイヤモンド6の表面に押しつけ、超音波により効率よく摩擦熱を発生させ、ダイヤモンド表面結晶の炭素を除去することで研磨する。また研磨用工具は棒状部材30とその先端の曲面状の先端部31からなる。さらに研磨用工具とダイヤモンド表面の接触面に潤滑性を有する液体/固体又はその混合物を介在させて研磨することで研磨面周囲の凝着が防止でき、研磨効率も上がる。

Description
本発明は、超音波振動による摩擦熱を利用して、研磨用工具とダイヤモンド表面に熱化学反応を起こさせて研磨を行うものである。そして請求項1記載の発明によれば、超音波を利用して、研磨用工具とダイヤモンドとの間に摩擦熱を短時間で効率的に発生させることができ、それによりダイヤモンドから炭素を極めて効率よく取り去って滑らかな表面を創成することができる。
しかし本発明者は、請求項1記載の発明では、研磨面の周囲に、研磨用工具の材質の種類に起因すると考えられる凝着物が形成されることがあるので、前記凝着物が生じないようにすることについて鋭意研究の結果、以下のことを見い出し、請求項1記載の発明を更に発展させて、請求項2記載の発明を完成させた。

Claims (8)
- 超音波を印加した研磨用工具をダイヤモンド表面に押し付けて研磨することを特徴とするダイヤモンドの研磨方法。
- 前記研磨用工具と前記ダイヤモンド表面の接触面に潤滑性を有する液体/固体又はその混合物を介在させて研磨することを特徴とする請求項1記載のダイヤモンドの研磨方法。
- 前記潤滑性を有する液体/固体又はその混合物は植物油、切削油、流動パラフィン、オレイン酸、グリセリンからなる群から選択される少なくとも1つの物質からなることを特徴とする請求項2記載のダイヤモンドの研磨方法。
- 前記研磨用工具がダイヤモンド結晶中の炭素と反応しやすい金属から構成され、該研磨用工具を対象ダイヤモンド面と点接触させて行う請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載のダイヤモンドの研磨方法。
- 研磨用工具を移動させながら超音波縦振動させる請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載のダイヤモンドの研磨方法。
- 棒状部材とその先端の曲面状の先端部からなり、該曲面状の先端部を被研磨面に当接させる研磨用工具と、該研磨用工具を超音波振動させる超音波振動系を有するダイヤモンドの研磨装置。
- 前記研磨用工具がダイヤモンド結晶中の炭素と反応しやすい金属から構成されることを特徴とする請求項6記載のダイヤモンドの研磨装置。
- 前記研磨用工具を移動可能な工具移動手段を備えたことを特徴とする請求項6または7記載のダイヤモンドの研磨装置。
