Description
さらに、研磨用工具をダイヤモンド表面と点接触させることで、超音波エネルギーを研磨面に集中させて熱量を効率よく得て、研磨用工具とダイヤモンド表面の熱化学反応が促進され、効率よくより滑らかな研磨面が得られる。
しかし本発明者は、請求項1記載の発明では、研磨面の周囲に、研磨用工具の材質の種類に起因すると考えられる凝着物が形成されることがあるので、前記凝着物が生じないようにすることについて鋭意研究の結果、以下のことを見い出し、請求項1記載の発明を更に発展させて、請求項2記載の発明を完成させた。
更に、研磨用工具とダイヤモンド表面の熱化学反応が促進され、効率よくより滑らかな研磨面を得ることができる。またダイヤモンド表面と点接触させることで、超音波エネルギーを研磨面に集中させて熱量を効率よく得ることができる。

Claims (8)
- 超音波を印加し、ダイヤモンド結晶中の炭素と反応しやすい金属から構成された研磨用工具をダイヤモンド表面に点接触により押し付けて摩擦熱を発生させて、研磨用工具とダイヤモンド結晶中の炭素の熱化学反応によりダイヤモンド表面を研磨することを特徴とするダイヤモンドの研磨方法。
- 前記研磨用工具と前記ダイヤモンド表面の接触面に潤滑性を有する液体/固体又はその混合物を介在させて研磨することを特徴とする請求項1記載のダイヤモンドの研磨方法。
- 前記潤滑性を有する液体/固体又はその混合物は植物油、切削油、流動パラフィン、オレイン酸、グリセリンからなる群から選択される少なくとも1つの物質からなることを特徴とする請求項2記載のダイヤモンドの研磨方法。
- 前記炭素と反応しやすい金属としてチタン、ジルコニウム、タンタルのうちいずれかの金属から構成された研磨用工具を用いることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載のダイヤモンドの研磨方法。
- 研磨用工具を移動させながら超音波縦振動させることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載のダイヤモンドの研磨方法。
- ダイヤモンド結晶中の炭素と反応しやすい金属から構成され、棒状部材とその先端の曲面状の先端部からなり、該曲面状の先端部をダイヤモンドの被研磨面に当接させることでダイヤモンド結晶中の炭素と熱化学反応を起こす研磨用工具と、該研磨用工具を超音波振動させて前記研磨用工具とダイヤモンドとの間に摩擦熱を発生させるための超音波振動系を有することを特徴とするダイヤモンドの研磨装置。
- 前記炭素と反応しやすい金属がチタン、ジルコニウム、タンタルのうちいずれかの金属であることを特徴とする請求項6記載のダイヤモンドの研磨装置。
- 前記研磨用工具を移動可能な工具移動手段を備えたことを特徴とする請求項6または7記載のダイヤモンドの研磨装置。
