Abstract
【解決手段】本発明の階調処理方法では、ランダム係数値を用いてビデオデータをランダム誤差拡散させ、この誤差拡散されたビデオデータを平均輝度レベルマスクを用いてディザリングする。従って、本発明によれば、ビデオデータの階調表現力を増大させると共に誤差拡散ノイズを最小化することが可能である。

ここで、Random coff.aおよびRandom coff.bは、ランダム生成部43からそれぞれ生成された第1および第2のランダム係数値(R1、R2)であり、A、B、Cは、画素A、画素B、画素Cのそれぞれのランダム誤差拡散値を示し、ch1_cur_errおよびch2_cur_errは、画素Dと画素Eの現在画素値を示す。

Claims (22)
- ビデオデータを表示する装置において、
ランダム係数値を用いて前記ビデオデータをランダム誤差拡散させるステップと、
前記誤差拡散されたビデオデータを平均輝度レベルマスクを用いてディザリングするステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする表示装置の階調処理方法。 - 前記ビデオデータは、逆ガンマ補正が行われ、整数部および小数部として出力されたデータであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置の階調処理方法。
- 前記小数部は、上位一部ビットと下位一部ビットとからなり、前記上位一部ビットは、前記ディザリングに使用され、前記下位一部ビットは、前記ランダム誤差拡散に使用されることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の表示装置の階調処理方法。
- 前記平均輝度レベルマスクは、平均輝度レベルの高低に相応する少なくとも1つ以上のマスクからなることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置の階調処理方法。
- 前記平均輝度レベルマスクは、前記平均輝度レベルマスクに比例してマスク値が大きくなるように設定されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置の階調処理方法。
- 前記ランダム誤差拡散ステップは、
前記ビデオデータの隣接画素の誤差拡散値のそれぞれに予め設定された互いに異なる重み付け値を付与した誤差拡散係数値、現在画素値および前記ランダム係数値を加算してキャリー信号を生成するステップと、
前記キャリー信号を前記現在画素の上位一部ビットに加算して出力するステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置の階調処理方法。 - 前記ステップは、前記ビデオデータの各画素に対して同様に行われることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の表示装置の階調処理方法。
- 前記ディザリングステップは、
前記ランダム誤差拡散値に相応するディザマスクパターンを選択するステップと、
前記選択されたディザマスクパターンのディザ値を前記平均輝度レベルマスクと論理合演算を行うステップと、
前記論理合演算された値を前記ランダム誤差拡散値に加算して出力するステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置の階調処理方法。 - 前記選択されたディザマスクパターンのディザ値は、垂直同期信号、水平同期信号および画素クロック信号の組み合わせにより出力されることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の表示装置の階調処理方法。
- 前記ディザマスクパターンは、前記ランダム誤差拡散値の小数部の上位一部ビットに従う階調値により選択されることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の表示装置の階調処理方法。
- 前記ディザマスクパターンは、階調およびフレーム別に設定されていることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の表示装置の階調処理方法。
- ビデオデータを表示する装置において、
ランダム係数値を用いて前記ビデオデータをランダム誤差拡散させるランダム誤差拡散部と、
前記誤差拡散されたビデオデータを平均輝度レベルマスクを用いてディザリングするディザリング部と、
を備えることを特徴とする表示装置の階調処理装置。 - 前記ビデオデータが整数部および小数部として出力されるように逆ガンマ補正するガンマ補正部をさらに備えることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の表示装置の階調処理装置。
- 前記小数部は、上位一部ビッドと下位一部ビットとからなり、前記上位一部ビットは、前記ディザリングに使用され、前記下位一部ビットは、前記ランダム誤差拡散に使用されることを特徴とする請求項13に記載の表示装置の階調処理装置。
- 前記ランダム誤差拡散部に提供するためのランダム係数値を生成するランダム生成部をさらに備えることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の表示装置の階調処理装置。
- 前記ビデオデータの平均輝度レベルを算出する平均輝度レベル演算部をさらに備えることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の表示装置の階調処理装置。
- 前記ランダム誤差拡散部は、前記ビデオデータの隣接画素の誤差拡散値のそれぞれに予め設定された互いに異なる重み付け値を付与した誤差拡散係数値、現在画素値および前記ランダム係数値を加算してキャリー信号を生成し、前記キャリー信号を前記現在画素の上位一部ビットに加算して出力することを特徴とする請求項12に記載の表示装置の階調処理装置。
- 前記ディザリング部は、
前記ランダム誤差拡散値に相応するディザマスクパターンを選択するディザマスクテーブルと、
前記選択されたディザマスクパターンのディザ値を前記平均輝度レベルマスクと論理合演算を行う論理和ゲートと、
前記論理合演算された値を前記ランダム誤差拡散値に加算して出力する加算部と、
を備えることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の表示装置の階調処理装置。 - 前記選択されたディザマスクパターンのディザ値は、垂直同期信号、水平同期信号および画素クロック信号の組み合わせにより出力されることを特徴とする請求項18に記載の表示装置の階調処理装置。
- 前記ディザマスクパターンは、前記ランダム誤差拡散値の小数部の上位一部ビットに従う階調値により選択されることを特徴とする請求項18に記載の表示装置の階調処理装置。
- 前記ディザマスクパターンは、階調およびフレーム別に設定されていることを特徴とする請求項18に記載の表示装置の階調処理装置。
- 前記ディザリング部は、前記平均輝度レベル演算部から出力された平均輝度レベルによって平均輝度レベルマスクのうちのいずれか1つを選択してディザリングに使用することを特徴とする請求項12に記載の表示装置の階調処理装置。
