Abstract
【課題】 本発明が目的とする技術的課題は、反射型モードと透過型モードの両方において優れた特性を示す反射透過型液晶表示装置を提供することである。
【解決手段】 色フィルター基板と薄膜トランジスタ基板が対向しており、その間に72度の捩れ角で配向されている液晶が注入されている。色フィルター基板と薄膜トランジスタ基板の外側にはλ/2補償フィルムとλ/4補償フィルムが各々配置され、補償フィルム外側には上下部偏光板が配置されている。λ/2補償フィルムとλ/4補償フィルムは、所定のリタデーション値を有し、延伸軸が所定方位角に向かうように配置されている。

Claims (4)
- 第1絶縁基板と、
前記第1絶縁基板の内面に形成されている透明電極と、
前記第1絶縁基板の内面に前記透明電極と重なる領域に透過窓を有する反射電極と、
前記透明電極及び前記反射電極と連結されている薄膜トランジスタと、
前記第1絶縁基板の内面と対向する内面を有する第2絶縁基板と、
前記第2絶縁基板の内面に形成されている共通電極と、
前記第1絶縁基板と前記第2絶縁基板との間に注入されている液晶層と、
前記第1絶縁基板の外面に配置されている第1偏光フィルムと、
前記第1絶縁基板と前記第1偏光フィルムとの間に配置されている第1及び第2補償フィルムと、
前記第2絶縁基板の外面に配置されている第2偏光フィルムと、
前記第2絶縁基板と前記第2偏光フィルムとの間に配置されている第3及び第4補償フィルムを含み、
前記液晶層の液晶は、前記第1絶縁基板から前記第2絶縁基板を進行しながら所定の捩れを有するように配向され、前記所定の捩れ角は62°から82°の間の値を有し、液晶表示装置を正面から見て水平方向をx軸、垂直方向をy軸と定義すれば、液晶の配向方向は方位角170°から250°の間であり、
前記第1補償フィルムは、550nm波長の光に対して135nmから155nmの間のリタデーション値(Δnd)を有し、延伸軸が方位角154°から174°の間に入るように配置され、前記第2補償フィルムは、550nm波長の光に対して260nmから280nmの間のリタデーション値(Δnd)を有し、延伸軸が方位角95°から115°の間に入るように配置され、前記第3補償フィルムは、550nm波長の光に対して130nmから150nmの間のリタデーション値(Δnd)を有し、延伸軸が方位角96°から116°の間に入るように配置され、前記第4補償フィルムは、550nm波長の光に対して250nmから270nmの間のリタデーション値(Δnd)を有し、延伸軸が方位角154°から174°の間に入るように配置されている液晶表示装置。 - 第1絶縁基板と、
前記第1絶縁基板の内面に形成されている透明電極と、
前記第1絶縁基板の内面に前記透明電極と重なる領域に透過窓を有する反射電極と、
前記透明電極及び前記反射電極と連結されている薄膜トランジスタと、
前記第1絶縁基板の内面と対向している内面を有する第2絶縁基板と、
前記第2絶縁基板の内面に形成されている共通電極と、
前記第1絶縁基板と前記第2絶縁基板の間に注入されている液晶層と、
前記第1絶縁基板の外面に配置されている第1偏光フィルムと、
前記第1絶縁基板と前記第1偏光フィルムとの間に配置されている第1及び第2補償フィルムと、
前記第2絶縁基板の外面に配置されている第2偏光フィルムと、
前記第2絶縁基板と前記第2偏光フィルムとの間に配置されている第3及び第4補償フィルムを含み、
前記液晶層の液晶は、前記第1絶縁基板から前記第2絶縁基板を進行しながら所定の捩れを有するように配向され、前記所定の捩れ角は62°から82°の間の値を有し、液晶表示装置を正面から見て水平方向をx軸、垂直方向をy軸と定義すれば、液晶の配向方向は方位角170°から250°の間であり、
前記第1補償フィルムは550nm波長の光に対して130nmから150nmの間のリタデーション値(Δnd)を有し、延伸軸が方位角152°から172°の間に入るように配置され、前記第2補償フィルムは550nm波長の光に対して260nmから280nmの間のリタデーション値(Δnd)を有し、延伸軸が方位角94°から114°の間に入るように配置され、前記第3補償フィルムは550nm波長の光に対して130nmから150nmの間のリタデーション値(Δnd)を有し、延伸軸が方位角96°から116°の間に入るように配置され、前記第4補償フィルムは550nm波長の光に対して250nmから270nmの間のリタデーション値(Δnd)を有し、延伸軸が方位角154°から174°の間に入るように配置されている液晶表示装置。 - 第1絶縁基板と、
前記第1絶縁基板の内面に形成されている透明電極と、
前記第1絶縁基板の内面に前記透明電極と重なる領域に透過窓を有する反射電極と、
前記透明電極及び前記反射電極と連結されている薄膜トランジスタと、
前記第1絶縁基板の内面と対向している内面を有する第2絶縁基板と、
前記第2絶縁基板の内面に形成されている共通電極と、
前記第1絶縁基板と前記第2絶縁基板の間に注入されている液晶層と、
前記第1絶縁基板の外面に配置されている第1偏光フィルムと、
前記第1絶縁基板と前記第1偏光フィルムとの間に配置されている第1及び第2補償フィルムと、
前記第2絶縁基板の外面に配置されている第2偏光フィルムと、
前記第2絶縁基板と前記第2偏光フィルムとの間に配置されている第3及び第4補償フィルムを含み、
前記液晶層の液晶は、前記第1絶縁基板から前記第2絶縁基板を進行しながら所定の捩れを有するように配向され、前記所定の捩れ角は62°から82°の間の値を有し、液晶表示装置を正面から見て水平方向をx軸、垂直方向をy軸と定義すれば、液晶の配向方向は方位角170°から250°の間であり、前記第1補償フィルムは550nm波長の光に対して130nmから150nmの間のリタデーション値(Δnd)を有し、延伸軸が方位角154°から174°の間に入るように配置され、前記第2補償フィルムは550nm波長の光に対して260nmから280nmの間のリタデーション値(Δnd)を有し、延伸軸が方位角95°から115°の間に入るように配置され、前記第3補償フィルムは550nm波長の光に対して130nmから150nmの間のリタデーション値(Δnd)を有し、延伸軸が方位角96°から116°の間に入るように配置され、前記第4補償フィルムは550nm波長の光に対して250nmから270nmの間のリタデーション値(Δnd)を有し、延伸軸が方位角154°から174°の間に入るように配置されている液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2偏光板の吸収軸は、方位角-10°から10°の間に入るように配置され、前記第1偏光板の吸収軸は方位角80°から100°の間に入るように配置されている請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載の液晶表示装置。
