Description

<実施例1>
【0032】
<実施例2>
【0033】
<比較例>

The present invention relates to a viewing window for monitoring a molten state inside an electron beam melting furnace and a method of operating the same, and more particularly, to a technique capable of stably monitoring the inside of an electron beam melting furnace for a long time.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Recent electron beam melting furnaces have been used extensively for melting high melting point metals such as Ti, Zr, and Ta because of their excellent effects of reducing impurities contained in the molten metal during operation and degassing effects. Have been.
[0003]
There is an example in which a furnace window of such an electron beam melting furnace is provided with a sight glass, and the inside of the melting furnace is monitored from the sight glass to adjust the melting output to promote melting of the metal. Attempts have also been made to install a radiation thermometer inside the viewing window glass to measure the temperature of the melting part. However, the technology conventionally used has the problem that the observation window glass becomes cloudy in a short time from the start of melting due to the adhesion of the generated metal vapor, making it impossible to monitor the melted portion in the furnace thereafter. there were.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the technique described in
[0008]
The present invention has been made in view of the above demands, and has as its object to provide a viewing window portion of an electron beam melting furnace capable of stably monitoring metal melting by an electron beam for a long time and a method of operating the same. .
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The viewing window of the electron beam melting furnace of the present invention has a protective glass and a viewing window glass arranged in parallel from the inside in the chamber, and a high-speed rotatable disk having a plurality of slits is disposed inside the protective glass. At least one nozzle for supplying an inert gas from outside of the chamber toward the protective glass is provided at a viewing window of the electron beam melting furnace.
[0010]
In the viewing window of the electron beam melting furnace of the present invention, the melting portion of the melting furnace can be monitored from the outside through slits provided in the viewing glass, the protective glass, and the metal disk. In particular, in the present invention, by supplying an inert gas to the protective glass from the outside of the chamber through a nozzle, the inert gas is applied to the protective glass itself, thereby suppressing fogging of the protective glass. By sending the inert gas to the viewing window glass through the gap between the protective glass and the outer wall of the chamber to reach the viewing window glass, fogging of the viewing window glass can be suppressed. In addition, by sending the inert gas that has reached the sight glass to the evacuation section of the electron beam melting furnace that has been evacuated, it is possible to suppress the metal vapor from reaching the protective glass with the inert gas. Fogging of the glass and the sight glass can be sufficiently suppressed. Therefore, according to the viewing window of the present invention, the inside of the metal melting furnace can be stably monitored for a long time. In addition, by making the above-mentioned disk rotatable at high speed, this disk can be made to play a role as a blower.
[0011]
In the viewing window of such an electron beam melting furnace, it is desirable to provide a fin on a high-speed rotatable disk having a plurality of slits as described above. For example, when the fins are provided on the surface of the disk on the side of the protective glass, the inert gas is sufficiently fed into the viewing window side through the gap between the protective glass and the outer wall of the chamber, so that the inert gas is inert. The gas can be made to sufficiently reach the sight glass, whereby the fogging of the sight glass can be suppressed at a higher level. In addition, when the fins are provided on the surface of the disk on the side of the melting portion in the furnace, the inert gas that has reached the viewing window glass can be sufficiently fed into the melting portion of the electron beam melting furnace. Can be suppressed at a higher level, so that the fogging of the protective glass and the sight glass can be further suppressed.
[0012]
As described above, such fins can be attached to at least one of the surface on the side of the protective glass and the surface on the side of the melting portion in the furnace of the high-speed rotatable disk. In addition, the number and shape of the fins can be appropriately determined so as to realize a desired flow of the inert gas in the viewing window. In the viewing window of the electron beam melting furnace described above, heat-resistant glass may be installed between the protective glass and the viewing window in order to suppress the radiant heat from the melting part. Is preferable because it can be further improved.
[0013]
Next, the method for operating the viewing window portion of the electron beam melting furnace of the present invention is a method for suitably operating the above-described viewing window portion. In the chamber, the protective glass and the viewing window glass are arranged in parallel from inside. A method of operating a viewing window of an electron beam melting furnace in which a disk having a plurality of slits is disposed inside the protective glass, wherein the disk is rotated at a high speed and a chamber is turned toward the protective glass. An inert gas is supplied from outside, and the inert gas is sent to the side of the viewing window glass through a gap between the protective glass and the outer wall of the chamber, and the inert gas that has reached the viewing window glass is melted by an electron beam. It is characterized in that it is sent to the furnace melting part side.
[0014]
According to the operation method of the viewing window of the electron beam melting furnace of the present invention, by supplying an inert gas to the protective glass from outside the chamber, by applying the inert gas to the protective glass itself, the protective glass Fogging of the sight glass by sending inert gas to the sight glass through the gap between the protective glass and the outer wall of the chamber to reach the sight glass. Can be suppressed. Therefore, according to the operation method of the viewing window of the electron beam melting furnace of the present invention, the inside of the metal melting furnace can be stably monitored for a long time. In the method of operating the viewing window of the electron beam melting furnace, the inert gas may be argon gas.

Next, the function and effect of the viewing window of the electron beam melting furnace having the above configuration will be described.
During the operation of the viewing window shown in FIG. 2, the inert gas is sent from the four supply nozzles to the
[0020]
According to the example shown in FIG. 2, the number of supply nozzles is four, but the number of supply nozzles is not limited to this, and more supply nozzles can be provided. However, an excessive increase in the number is not advantageous in manufacturing because the structure of the viewing window is complicated. For this reason, it is practically preferable that the number of supply nozzles is about 4 to 6. Further, it is preferable that the tip of each supply nozzle is arranged adjacent to the space S. By adopting such an arrangement, the inert gas can be sufficiently sent to the protective glass side, so that the fogging of the

[0026]
Further, the inert gas supplied to the viewing window may be, for example, argon gas. It is preferable that the argon gas removes moisture and other impurity gases in advance. For example, by bringing a commercially available argon gas into contact with a titanium material heated to a high temperature in advance, impurities in the argon gas can be efficiently removed.
[0027]
In some cases, it is effective to slightly heat the argon gas and supply it to the space S. For example, when the electron beam melting furnace is operated in winter, when the cooled argon gas collides with the

In addition, during the operation of the viewing window, increasing the flow rate of the argon gas allows more argon gas to be sent to the

In FIG. 5, the description of the components denoted by the same reference numerals as in FIG. 2 is omitted. The embodiment shown in FIG. 5 does not employ a configuration in which a supply nozzle for supplying an inert gas from the outside is communicated with the internal space as shown in FIG. The inert gas is sent toward the

<Comparative example>
A titanium material was produced by operating an electron beam melting furnace having an observation window having the structure shown in FIG. 1 and having an output of 2000 kW to obtain a titanium ingot. In addition, the structural member of the viewing window part had the same structure as that shown in FIG. In operating such an electron beam melting furnace, argon gas was not supplied from outside to the protective glass 2. As a result, when three ingots of 10 t were melted, the molten portion in the furnace became invisible due to the fogging of the protective glass 2, so the protective glass 2 was replaced.
[0034]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, the inert gas is supplied from the outside of the chamber toward the protective glass, and once the inert gas reaches the viewing window glass, the inert gas is sent to the melting part in the furnace. , Fogging of the protective glass and the sight glass can be suppressed. Therefore, the viewing window of the electron beam melting furnace of the present invention is promising because it can monitor the inside of the electron beam melting furnace for a long time.
