BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a fixing agent for ink jet recording paper. More specifically, the present invention relates to a fixing agent that hardly deteriorates light fastness of a printed matter printed by an inkjet printer.
[0002]
2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, personal computers, digital cameras, and ink jet printers have become quite popular in ordinary households, and it has become possible to easily print images such as photographs.
[0003] These users also desire to improve the storage stability of the printed matter such as light resistance, water resistance and gas resistance.
[0004] Ink jet recording papers include, for example, acrylic polymer latex such as polyvinyl alcohol (hereinafter abbreviated as PVA), polymer or copolymer of (meth) acrylate, carboxyl-modified conjugated diene copolymer latex, One or two or more kinds of vinyl polymer latex such as ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer as a binder, fine powder silica, magnesium silicate, calcium silicate, calcium carbonate, zinc oxide, white pigments such as aluminum hydroxide and In addition, an additive such as a water-proofing agent or a light-fastness improver is added, and the coating liquid is applied to the paper surface to produce.
In order to impart water resistance, which is one of the storability, to printed matter printed on ink jet recording paper, a cationic polymer compound such as polydimethyldiallylammonium chloride is used in the above coating solution. This is known as described in JP-A-59-20696.
However, in general, a fixing agent using a cationic polymer adversely affects the light fastness of a printed matter printed on an ink jet recording paper.
In order to prevent the deterioration of the light resistance, a light resistance improver or the like is added. However, when a coating liquid is prepared, the number of steps is increased and extra cost is required, which is inefficient and is not industrially preferable.
[0008]
DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION The present invention provides a water-resistant ink which is obtained by simply adding a cationic polymer without adding a lightfastness improver, without deteriorating the lightfastness of printed matter printed on ink jet recording paper. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a fixing agent that imparts the following.
[0009]
Means for Solving the Problems The present inventors have conducted intensive studies to find a solution to the above-mentioned problems, and as a result, have found a fixing agent composed of a specific cationic polymer, and have completed the present invention.
That is, the present invention provides, as a cationic monomer, a quaternized methyl chloride or quaternized dimethyl (or diethyl) sulfate of dialkyl (C 1-3) aminoalkyl (C 1-3) (meth) acrylate. Water resistance is good by using a cationic polymer obtained by copolymerizing a (meth) acrylamide derivative with a (meth) acrylamide derivative such that the CV value is in the range of 2.7 meq / g to 4.5 meq / g in solid content; This was accomplished by finding a fixing agent for inkjet recording paper that does not degrade light fastness.
[0011]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a quaternary product of a dialkyl (C1 to C3) aminoalkyl (C1 to C3) (meth) acrylate methyl chloride or dimethyl (or diethyl) sulfuric acid. Of a printed matter printed on an inkjet recording paper using a cationic polymer obtained by copolymerizing a (meth) acrylamide derivative with a CV value in a range of 2.7 meq / g to 4.5 meq / g in solid content. An object of the present invention is to provide a fixing agent that imparts water resistance without deteriorating light resistance.
The CV value refers to the degree of cationization and is a value defining the amount of cations in 1 g of the cationic polymer. The larger the value, the stronger the cationicity.
The CV value of the cationic polymer of the present invention is from 2.7 meq / g to 4.5 meq / g in solid content, but if it is less than 2.7 meq / g, the cationicity is weak and the water resistance is poor. Become. On the other hand, when the value is more than 4.5 meq / g, the cationicity is too strong, and the light resistance is considerably adversely affected.
Specific examples of the cationic monomer that can be used in the present invention include quaternized methyl chloride of N, N-dimethylaminoethyl acrylate and quaternary methyl chloride of N, N-dimethylaminopropyl acrylate. Chloride, quaternary methyl chloride of N, N-diethylaminoethyl acrylate, quaternary methyl chloride of N, N-diethylaminopropyl acrylate, quaternary methyl chloride of N, N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate, N, N-dimethyl Methyl chloride quaternary product of aminopropyl methacrylate, methyl chloride quaternary product of N, N-diethylaminoethyl methacrylate, methyl chloride quaternary product of N, N-diethylaminopropyl methacrylate, and the like. Alternatively dimethyl (or diethyl) those that quaternized with sulfuric Id and the like. From the viewpoints of convenience, cost, and the like, methyl chloride quaternized N, N-dimethylaminoethyl acrylate is preferable.
Examples of the (meth) acrylamide derivative to be copolymerized with the above-mentioned cationic monomer include acrylamide, dimethylaminoacrylamide, diethylaminoacrylamide, methacrylamide, dimethylaminomethacrylamide, diethylaminomethacrylamide and the like. There is. Among them, acrylic amide or methacryl amide is desirable from the viewpoint of convenience and cost.
The catalyst for initiating the reaction includes peroxides such as ammonium persulfate, potassium persulfate, sodium persulfate, t-butyl hydroperoxide and the like, 2,2'-azobis (2-amidinopropane) hydrochloride, 2,2′-azobis [2- (2-imidazolin-2-yl) propane] sulfate, 2,2′-azobis [2- (2-imidazolin-2-yl) propane] hydrochloride, 2,2 ′ -Azobis [2- (5-methyl-2-imidazolin-2-yl) propane] hydrochloride, 2,2'-azobis [2- (3,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidin-2-yl) propane] General catalysts such as azo-based catalysts such as hydrochloride and redox catalysts such as hydrogen peroxide-iron ion (II) and benzoyl peroxide-dimethylaniline can be used.
The solvent used in the synthesis can be used without any problem as long as it dissolves the monomer and the catalyst and does not inhibit or suppress the reaction. Examples of the most preferable solvent include water which is inexpensive and has no environmental problem.
The reaction temperature varies depending on the catalyst used, but the reaction is carried out at a temperature of 10 ° C to 100 ° C, preferably 50 ° C to 80 ° C.
The detailed synthesis method of the cationic polymer will be described later as a synthesis example.
The coating liquid to be coated on the paper surface is obtained by adding fine powdered silica to a binder such as an aqueous PVA solution and adding the cationic polymer described above. The amount of the cationic polymer, 0.2g / m 2 ~5g / m 2 in solids, preferably 0.5g / m 2 ~2.5g / m 2 . The detailed method of coating the paper surface will be described later in Examples and Comparative Examples.

The test was performed.
In the performance test, a water resistance test and a light resistance test were performed. The test method will be described in detail.
In the water resistance test, in the examples and the comparative examples, solid printing of black, yellow, cyan and magenta and paper printed with characters in black were used as test papers, and the test papers were placed in a container where the test papers could be evenly immersed in water. And soak the test paper for 15 seconds. After 15 seconds, the test paper was taken out of the water, air-dried, and the degree of bleeding was visually evaluated.
In the light fastness test, light was irradiated at 63 ° C. for 50 hours using a light fastness tester, using solid printed papers of black, yellow, cyan and magenta as test papers in Examples and Comparative Examples. After irradiation for 50 hours, the difference between the irradiated portion and the shielded portion was visually determined for each of black, yellow, cyan, and magenta.
Table 1 shows the test results of printed matter printed using an inkjet printer Canon BJ F870 (manufactured by Canon Inc.). Table 2 shows the test results of printed matter printed using an inkjet printer EPSON PM-900C (manufactured by Seiko Epson Corporation).
The symbols in Tables 1 and 2 indicate the evaluation of the light resistance test and the evaluation of the water resistance test. The evaluation criteria are as follows: Evaluation of light resistance test ◎ The degree of almost no fading or slight fading.
:: Slight fading is observed.

From the above results, it is clear that the use of the cationic polymer fixing agent of the present invention maintains the water resistance of the image printed on the ink jet recording paper and does not lower the light resistance.
[0051]
When the cationic polymer of the present invention is used as a fixing agent for ink jet recording paper, deterioration of the light fastness of a printed image can be prevented without adding a light fastness improving agent during coating.
