【本発明の背景】
本発明の技術分野 本発明は通信ネットワークに関し、特に、ビデオ通話中に対象広告を加入者に
提供するシステムに関する。
【０００２】 関連技術の説明 ビデオテレコンファレンスは多年にわたって存在していたが、コスト高のため
に広範囲には受入れられていなかった。技術の進歩に伴い、電話回線上にさらな
る帯域幅を提供する方法が開発され、広範囲なビデオ電話の可能性がより現実的
なものとなった。しかしながら、商業分野及び私的分野内の広範囲アプリケーシ
ョンにとっては、そのコストはまだ高過ぎる。

図１は、本発明のオペレーションにおける、代表的な対話型ディスプレイ画面
１を説明するための図である。加入者からの視点を考慮して、本発明は、ビデオ
通話中のビデオ画面の一部に小さいウィンドウ２を備える。スクリーンのメイン
パート３が通話中の他の加入者のイメージを表示している間に、その小さいウィ
ンドウは一連の対象広告を表示する。しかしながら、本発明は単に、小さいイメ
ージをより大きいイメージ内におくことに留まらない。対話型ディスプレイを利

議電話１５及び１６を利用して、ビデオ通話を行っている。発呼者の電話１５は
、発呼者のスイッチ１７に接続されている。発呼者のスイッチは、被呼者用のス

入者によっても影響される。例えば、通常のビデオ通話中に、発呼者または被呼
者のいずれかが表示された広告に興味を持つと、詳細情報のためにそれを選択す
ることができる。そしてこの選択は、それが発呼者又は被呼者のいずれによって
行われたかに関らず、集中データベース１９内の発呼者の嗜好の更新に利用でき
る。この様に、発呼者に提示される広告は、発呼者の興味のみならず、発呼者の
家族及び友人の興味をも反映している。
【００１１】 被呼者による広告の選択に続いて発呼者の嗜好を更新するために、嗜好データ
ベース１９内において加入者の嗜好はリンクされる。発呼者のプロフィール内に
は、頻繁に通話する加入者番号のリストを備える。発呼者プロフィール内におけ
るこれら番号のそれぞれについて、発呼者とその特定の被呼者間での通話中に両
方で選択されている広告タイプの履歴を備える。例えば、被呼者＃３が発呼者と
の通話中に広告を選択すれば、この事実が、発呼者プロフィール内の、頻繁通話
先番号＃３に対応するエントリ内に記録される。頻繁被呼者＃３が広告を選択す
るために「クリック」操作を行ったか否かに関わらず、発呼者プロフィール内の
被呼者＃３に対応するエントリが更新される。この様に、発呼者プロフィールは
、この発呼者とこの頻繁被呼者＃３は、このタイプの広告のトピックについて話
しそうである、という事実を反映する。

データベースに嗜好を追加し、第１の消費者に関連する少なくとも１人の付随消
費者を判定し、及び、付随消費者が製品に関する情報を購入または要求するたび
に、第１の消費者のデータベースに嗜好を追加する、というステップを有する。
【００１４】 広告が小さいウィンドウ２内に流れるとき、それらは例えば、写真、ビデオ、

ンにしたいであろう。希望があれば、ネットワーク運用者は広告システムがオン
であるときに割引請求レートを適用することができる。これは、加入者に対して
広告システムを利用する動機を与え、より多くの加入者がシステムを使用し、よ
り多くの広告主がシステムを利用し、その結果、ネットワーク運用者に増収が発
生する。広告が選択された旨を示すために、請求記録内に注釈を残すことができ
る。その注釈としては、単に広告が選択された旨を示すマーカであったり、また
は、どの特定の広告が選択されて、どれくらい長い時間見られたか、を示すもの

嗜好を反映した広告を発呼者に提示することができる。一方の加入者が詳細情報

題となるように両方の加入者に表示される。

  1. 【請求項１】 ビデオ通話中の加入者へ広告を提供するシステムであって、
    該システムは、 ディスプレイ画面を有する、発呼者のビデオ電話と、 複数のビデオ広告を格納する情報源と、 前記発呼者のビデオ電話、及び前記情報源に接続した発呼者のスイッチと、 を有し、該スイッチは、 前記情報源からビデオ広告を検索する手段と、 該検索された広告を前記発呼者のビデオ電話へ送出する手段と、 を含むことを特徴とする加入者への広告提供システム。
  2. 【請求項２】 更に、前記発呼者のビデオ電話内に、前記ディスプレイ画面
    上にウィンドウを生成する手段を有し、該ウィンドウは検索された広告を表示す
    ることを特徴とする請求項１記載の加入者への広告提供システム。
  3. 【請求項３】 前記発呼者のスイッチは、前記発呼者のビデオ電話のディス
    プレイ画面上にウィンドウを生成する手段を含み、該ウィンドウは検索された広

    広告を提供するシステムであって、該システムは、 発呼者用の広告嗜好を含む、加入者広告嗜好のデータベースと、 複数の広告、及び発呼者用の広告嗜好に基づいて前記複数の広告から広告を
    選択する手段を含む情報源と、 前記データベースから発呼者用の広告嗜好を検索し、該嗜好を前記情報源に
    送出する手段、前記情報源から前記選択された広告を検索する手段、及び該検索
    された広告を表示するウィンドウを、前記発呼者のディスプレイ画面上に生成す
    る手段を含む、前記データベース及び前記情報源に接続された発呼者のスイッチ
    と、 前記発呼者のスイッチと接続された被呼者のスイッチと、 を有することを特徴とする対象広告提供システム。
  10. 【請求項１０】 前記発呼者のスイッチはまた、検索された広告を前記被呼
    者のスイッチへ送出する手段を含み、前記被呼者のスイッチは、前記検索された
    広告を表示するウィンドウを前記被呼者のディスプレイ画面上に生成する手段を
    含むことを特徴とする請求項９記載の対象広告提供システム。
  11. 【請求項１１】 ウィンドウを発呼者のディスプレイ画面上に生成する前記
    手段、及び、ウィンドウを被呼者のディスプレイ画面上に生成する前記手段は、
    広告のシーケンスを表示する手段を含み、該シーケンス内の各広告は略５−１５
    秒間表示されることを特徴とする請求項１０記載の対象広告提供システム。
  12. 【請求項１２】 前記広告シーケンス内の広告は、ランダムに選択され、か
    つランダムに表示されることを特徴とする請求項１１記載の対象広告提供システ
    ム。
  13. 【請求項１３】 前記広告シーケンス内の広告は、所定の優先度に従って選
    択かつ表示されることを特徴とする請求項１１記載の対象広告提供システム。
  14. 【請求項１４】 前記各ディスプレイ画面は、それぞれの加入者による広告
    の選択、及び該選択された広告についての詳細情報の要求を可能とする対話型デ
    ィスプレイ画面であることを特徴とする請求項１１記載の対象広告提供システム

  15. 【請求項１５】 選択した広告を前記情報源から検索する前記手段は、詳細
    情報用に、前記加入者の１人によって選択された広告用の拡張した広告を検索す
    る手段を含むことを特徴とする請求項１４記載の対象広告提供システム。
  16. 【請求項１６】 前記加入者広告嗜好のデータベースは、詳細情報用に加入
    者によって関連する広告が選択されたときに、該データベースに広告嗜好を追加
    する手段を含むことを特徴とする請求項１５記載の対象広告提供システム。
  17. 【請求項１７】 前記加入者広告嗜好のデータベースは、 特定の広告が何回表示されたか、及び該特定の広告が詳細情報用に何回選択さ
    れたか、を判定する手段と、 前記特定の広告が、詳細情報用に選択されることなく、所定回数表示されたと
    きに、前記データベースから前記関連する広告を削除する手段と、 を含むことを特徴とする請求項１６記載の対象広告提供システム。
  18. 【請求項１８】 前記加入者広告嗜好のデータベースはまた、被呼者用の広
    告嗜好も含み、前記データベースから広告嗜好を検索する前記手段はまた、前記
    データベースから被呼者用の広告嗜好を検索し、該被呼者の嗜好を前記情報源に
    送出する手段も含むことを特徴とする請求項１７記載の対象広告提供システム。
  19. 【請求項１９】 前記発呼者用の広告嗜好に基づいて前記複数の広告から広
    告を選択する前記手段はまた、前記被呼者用の広告嗜好に基づいて前記複数の広
    告から広告を選択する手段も含むことを特徴とする請求項１８記載の対象広告提

    記発呼者用の広告嗜好に基づく広告、及び前記被呼者用の広告嗜好に基づく広告

    被呼者へ対象広告を提供する通信ネットワークシステムであって、該システムは
    、 該ネットワーク内の加入者用の広告嗜好を含む、加入者広告嗜好の集中データ
    ベースと、 複数の広告、及び前記発呼者及び前記被呼者用の広告嗜好に基づいて前記複
    数の広告から広告を選択する手段を含む情報源と、 前記データベースから前記発呼者用の広告嗜好を検索し、該嗜好を前記情報
    源に送出する手段、該情報源から前記発呼者の嗜好により選択された広告を検索
    する手段、及び前記発呼者用の広告嗜好により選択され、検索された広告を表示
    するウィンドウを、前記発呼者のディスプレイ画面上に生成する手段を含む、前
    記データベース及び前記情報源に接続された発呼者のスイッチと、 前記データベースから前記被呼者用の広告嗜好を検索し、該嗜好を前記情報
    源に送出する手段、前記情報源から前記被呼者の嗜好により選択された広告を検
    索する手段、及び前記被呼者用の広告嗜好により選択され、検索された広告を表
    示するウィンドウを、前記被呼者のディスプレイ画面上に生成する手段を含む前
    記データベース及び前記情報源に接続された被呼者のスイッチと、 を有することを特徴とする対象広告提供システム。

    よる広告の選択、及び該選択された広告についての詳細情報の要求を可能とする

  24. 【請求項２４】 前記発呼者のスイッチは、詳細情報用に前記発呼者によっ
    て選択され、表示された広告を、前記被呼者へ表示するために前記被呼者のスイ
    ッチへ送出する手段を含むことを特徴とする請求項２３記載の対象広告提供シス

    て選択され、表示された広告を、前記発呼者へ表示するために前記発呼者のスイ

  26. 【請求項２６】 第１の消費者用の嗜好データベースの構築方法であって、 該第１の消費者が製品に関する情報を購入または要求するたびに該第１の消費
    者のデータベースに嗜好を追加し、 該第１の消費者に関連する少なくとも１人の付随消費者を判定し、 該付随消費者が製品に関する情報を購入または要求するたびに、該第１の消費
    者のデータベースに嗜好を追加する、 というステップを有することを特徴とする嗜好データベースの構築方法。
  27. 【請求項２７】 前記第１の消費者は通信ネットワーク内の発呼者であり、
    前記付随消費者は前記通信ネットワーク内の付随加入者であり、前記第１の消費
    者に関連する少なくとも１人の付随消費者を判定する前記ステップは、前記付随
