Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the staining (color transfer) of other materials, such as other packages, to be sterilized when a package of a medical material or instrument is printed with both an indicator ink for ethylene oxide gas sterilization and an indicator ink for high-pressure steam sterilization and then is subjected to high-pressure steam sterilization. SOLUTION: The ink for detecting ethylene oxide gas sterilization essentially contains an azo dye which is selected from among azo dyes represented by formula (1) and has a fastness of 5 or higher by sublimation test (JIS L 0854-1967).

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, medical materials such as gauze, bandages, absorbent cotton, and instruments such as scalpels, scissors, and syringes are generally sterilized in advance by such manufacturers and delivered to hospitals and the like. Further, among these medical materials or instruments, those which can be used repeatedly rather than disposable, are used, then washed and sterilized in a central material room in a hospital, and then reused. As these sterilization methods, ethylene oxide gas sterilization and high-pressure steam sterilization are often used. By the way, when sterilizing medical materials or instruments, it is necessary to aseptically store them after sterilization until use, so they are individually packaged in advance in bags made of paper, cloth, nonwoven fabric, plastic film, etc., or other packaging materials. Then, sterilization treatment is performed on the package as it is.
A sterile indicator ink whose hue changes before and after sterilization is printed on a prominent place outside the package of medical materials or instruments to be sterilized, or the indicator ink is printed in advance. By attaching a certain adhesive label, adhesive tape, etc.,
It is possible to prevent confusion between the sterilized medical material or the package of the device and the unprocessed package. Here, when the sterilization indicator ink is printed on the package, both the indicator ink for ethylene oxide gas sterilization and the high-pressure steam sterilization indicator ink are printed, so that the presence or absence of the sterilization process can be detected regardless of which sterilization method is performed. That is often the case. Conventionally,
As an indicator ink for ethylene oxide gas sterilization, those described in JP-B-52-10043 are known.
