Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.プログラム可能な波長ルータであって、 波長分割多重(WDM)光信号を受けるように配置され、互いの反対の偏光を 有すると共に空間的に分離された第1の光路及び第2の光路を出力に規定する第 1の複屈折素子と; この第1の複屈折素子からの第1及び第2の光路を受けるように結合され、こ れら第1及び第2の光路の偏光状態をプログラムに従って交換するプログラム可 能な偏光変換器と; このプログラム可能な偏光変換器からの第1及び第2の光路を受けるように結 合された波長フィルタであって、このフィルタを通った第1の光路が垂直偏光の 第1の周波数セットと水平偏光の第2の周波数セットとを含み、フィルタを通っ た第2の光路が水平偏光の第1の周波数セットと垂直偏光の第2の周波数セット とを含むような偏光に依存する光伝送関数を有し、第1及び第2の周波数セット をほぼ相補的とした波長フィルタと; この波長フィルタからの第1及び第2の光路を受けるように結合され、これら 第1及び第2の光路のそれぞれを水平偏光成分及び垂直偏光成分に空間的に分離 する第2の複屈折素子と; 第1の光路の水平成分を第2の光路の垂直成分と合成して第1の出力信号を生 成する手段と; 第1の光路の垂直成分を第2の光路の水平成分と合成して第2の出力信号を生 成する手段と; を備えるもの。 2.請求項1のプログラム可能な波長ルータにおいて、第1及び第2の複屈折 素子を、カルサイト、ルチル及びLiNbO3から成る材料群から選択したもの 。 3.請求項1のプログラム可能な波長ルータにおいて、プログラム可能な偏光 変換器が、強誘電体液晶(FLC)系の偏光変換器であるもの。 4.請求項1のプログラム可能な波長ルータにおいて、プログラム可能な偏光 変換器が、ネマチック液晶に基づく偏光変換器であるもの。 5.請求項1のプログラム可能な波長ルータにおいて、波長フィルタが多段の 偏光干渉フィルタを備えるもの。 6.請求項5のプログラム可能な波長ルータにおいて、少なくとも1つのステ ージが、多層複屈折波長板素子を備え、この多層複屈折波長板素子のそれぞれは 直列に結合され、偏光変換器に対してそれぞれ固有の方向に指向された光軸を有 するもの。 7.請求項6のプログラム可能な波長ルータにおいて、少なくとも1つのステ ージが少なくとも5つの複屈折素予を備えるもの。 8.請求項5のプログラム可能な波長ルータにおいて、波長フィルタをコムフ ィルタとし、その光学的伝送関数が波長の関数として方形の減衰関数を有するも の。 9.プログラム可能な波長ルータであって、 複数のカスケード接続したステージを備えており、各ステージが複数の周波数 分割多重(WDM)チャネルを含む1つ又は2つ以上の光信号を受け、受けた光 信号をチャネルサブセットを含む光信号に分割し、この分割した光信号を各ステ ージに供給される制御信号に応じて所定の位置に振り分けるもの。 10.請求項9のプログラム可能な波長ルータにおいて、複数のカスケード接 続したステージが、 WDM信号を複数の空間的に分離された第1ステージ光信号に分割する第1の ステージであって、第1ステージの光信号のそれぞれは、WDM信号中の複数の チャネルの総数よりも少ない少なくとも1つのチャネルを含むものと、 複数の第1ステージ光信号のそれぞれを空間的に分離された第2ステージ光信 号に分離する第2のステージであって、第2ステージ光信号のそれぞれは第1ス テージ光信号の1つから受けるチャネルサブセットを含むものと、 を備えるもの。 11.請求項9のプログラム可能な波長ルータにおいて、複数のカスケード接 続された複数のステージのそれぞれが、 複数の第2ステージ光信号のそれぞれを複数の空間的に分離された複数の第3 ステージ光信号へ分割する第3のステージを備え、第3ステージ光信号のそれぞ れは、第2ステージ光信号の1つから受けるチャネルのサブセットを含むもの。 12.請求項9のプログラム可能な波長ルータにおいて、各ステージが、水平 偏光の第1のチャネルサブセットと、垂直偏光の第2のチャネルサブセットとを 通す平坦な頂部を有する波長応答特性を有する偏光依存性の光コムフィルタを含 み、第1及び第2のチャネルサブセットは相互に排他的であるもの。 13.請求項12のプログラム可能な波長ルータにおいて、各ステージが更に 、 受けた光信号を水平成分と垂直成分に分離する手段と; 分離した光信号の成分のそれぞれの偏光をプログラムに従って回転し、プログ ラムに従って回転した成分をコムフィルタへ通す手段とを備えるもの。 14.波長分割多重(WDM)光信号を振り分ける方法であって、 WDM信号を水平偏光成分及び垂直偏光成分に空間的に分離する工程と; これらの成分のそれぞれに対する偏光回転を選択する工程であって、選択した 後も相補的な偏光を維持し続けるようにする工程と; これら成分のそれぞれを一対の相補的波長−スペクトル信号に分割する工程で あって、各対における2つの分割された信号のそれぞれが反対の偏光を有するよ うにする工程と; 各対からの分割された信号を空間的に分離する工程と; 一方の対からの1つの分割された信号と、他方の対からの1つの信号とを空間 的に合成して水平及び垂直偏光成分を含む第1の波長スペクトル内の第1の出力 信号と、水平及び垂直偏光成分を第2の波長スペクトル内に含む第2の出力信号 を生成する工程と; を備えるもの。 15.請求項14の方法において、第1及び第2の出力信号のそれぞれに対し て分離処理、選択処理、分割処理、空間的な分離処理及び空間的な合成処理を繰 り返してそれぞれ固有の波長スペクトルを所定の位置に有する4つの出力信号を 生成するもの。 16.波長分割多重(WDM)光信号を振り分ける方法であって、 WDM信号を相補的な波長スペクトルを有する第1及び第2のサブスペクトル に分割する工程と; これら第1及び第2のサブスペクトルのそれぞれを第1及び第2の光チャネル の一方に選択的に結合する工程と; 第1のサブスペクトルを第3及び第4のサブスペクトルに分割する工程と; これら第3及び第4のサブスペクトルのそれぞれを第3及び第4の光チャネル の一方に選択的に結合する工程と; 第2のサブスペクトルを第5及び第6のサブスペクトルに分割する工程と; これら第5及び第6のサブスペクトルのそれぞれを第5及び第6の光チャネル の一方に選択的に結合する工程と; を備えるもの。 17.請求項16の方法において、第3及び第4のサブスペクトルを4つの固 有のサブスペクトルに分割する工程と; 第5及び第6のサブスペクトルを4つの固有のサブスペクトルに分割する工程 と; これらの固有のサブスペクトルのそれぞれを空間的に固有の光チャネルに選択 的に結合する工程と; を更に含むもの。
