Abstract

The apparatus is formed by a carousel (1), rotatable about a central axis (2) with respect to a base frame (3), to which couples of forms (4) are connected radially having anatomical shape as the desired article to steam. The carousel moves through a loading station (5) of the stockings that are going to be steamed on the forms (4), a station (6) of fitting the stockings on the forms; a steaming station (7), having steam supplying means; an air drying station (8) and an unloading station (9) of the steamed articles. The carousel (1) is formed by a tubular body (10) having a cylindrical wall (11), pivotally connected to the base frame (3). The wall (11) has the first function to rotate as a solid structure of the carousel (1), and holds also radially the forms (4) cantilever-like without that they rest on any base provided below. A steaming chamber (20) is provided that has a U-shaped cross section, with an opening (21) directed radially towards the axis (2) and having seals (22) on it. Claims

CLAIMS 1. A method for ironing on forms of hosiery articles and the like characterized in that it comprises the steps of: - arrangement of a plurality of shapes on a carousel rotatable around an axis supported by a wall extending tangentially with respect to said axis; - passage of said forms in a plurality of stations, one of which is a steam heating station comprising a steam chamber having a radial opening; - relative radial movement of said steam chamber with respect to said heating station, so as to make said shapes present in said heating station enter through said radial opening; - completion of the radial movement until said radial opening mates with said tangential wall and creates a continuous seal; - introduction of steam into said steam chamber; radial movement of said steam chamber away from said wall, freeing the shapes present therein and allowing the rotation of said carousel.

Method for ironing according to claim 1, wherein after the passage of the forms in a steam heating station there is a passage in a drying station comprising a drying chamber in which a stream of hot air is formed which invests said shapes, said stream being made to recirculate through a tubular body delimited by said tangential wall.

3. Apparatus for ironing on forms of hosiery articles and the like comprising: - a carousel rotating around a motorized axis; - a plurality of shapes arranged radially with respect to said axis along the periphery of said carousel, adjacent to said shapes there being a wall which extends tangentially with respect to said axis; - a plurality of stations in which said forms stop each time; - a steam chamber arranged in at least one of said stations and having a radial opening facing said wall; - means for radially moving said steam chamber, so as to make said shapes enter through said radial opening and until the latter fits tightly against said wall, as well as for retracting said chamber when heating is completed; - means for introducing steam into said steam chamber when the latter is sealed against said wall

4. Machine according to claim 3, wherein said wall adjacent to the shapes which extends tangentially is a cylindrical wall integral with said carousel and internal to said shapes.

5. Machine according to claim 3, in which tensioning devices are mounted on said cylindrical wall to hold the articles in at least one station in which said shapes are located, said devices being movable between an operative working position at least inside said steam chamber, in which they extend towards said shapes, and a rest position, in which they are retracted towards said wall.

6. Machine according to claim 4, in which said devices, in particular for the ironing of tights, provide a mechanical finger which is arranged under the panty of the tights fitted on said last to support it in the desired position.

7. Machine according to claim 4, in which said devices, in particular for ironing stockings, socks or knee-highs, have jaws which in an extended position squeeze said articles against said shapes.

8. Machine according to claim 2, wherein said cylindrical wall defines a closed space inside said carousel, said space which is used as a channel for the passage of hot ventilation air through a drying chamber, said drying chamber being defined at least partly from said wall.

9. Apparatus for ironing on forms of hosiery articles and the like comprising: - a motorized carousel rotating around a vertical axis with respect to a base, - a plurality of shapes arranged radially with respect to said axis along the periphery of said carousel, characterized in that - said carousel comprises a tubular wall rotatably connected to said base, said tubular wall having a lateral surface on which said shapes are cantilevered.
