Ammidi di alcanoil L-carnitine di formula generale (I) (FORMULA I) in cui R è alcanoile lineare o ramificato avente da 2 a 8 atomi di carbonio scelto fra acetile, propionile, butirrile, isobutirrile, valerile, isovalerile, esanoile, 1-metilbutirrile, ter-butilacetile, 2-etilbutirrile, 3-metilvalerile, 4-metilvalerile, 2-etilesanoile e 2 propilpentanoile;R' è il residuo monovalente di un amminoacido naturale, e X? è l'anione di un acido farmacologicamente accettabile, sono attivi nell'inibire la degenerazione neuronale, nel trattamento del coma e nel potenziare i processi di apprendimento e memorizzazione.
