Abstract
The circuit comprises a coupling capacitor, a rectifier and a storage capacitor in series with an a.c. voltage source. an ignition coil is connected to the storage capacitor and a control circuit with a switch opens the thyristor when it is closed, and vice-versa. The switch is operated during certain time intervals corresponding to the engine spead and the a.c. voltage source is high enough to make possible at the highest engine speed at least one discharge during the switch closed period. A controlled discharge pulse is sent through the ignition coil when the switch is opened and at the lowest engine speed at least one additional charging process is carried out during the switch opening, which sends a discharge pulse through the ignition coil.
