Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately start a converter only when power is applied, by appropriately selecting the charging time constant of a capacitor of a starting circuit to cause a trigger diode to perform triggering.
CONSTITUTION: When a voltage is applied, another voltage appears between lines B, C to charge a capacitor C5 of a starting circuit 1. When the charging voltage exceeds the threshold voltage of a trigger diode Dr, it is closed to turn on a transistor Q2. At the same time, a diode D7 is closed to discharge the capacitor C5 through the transistor Q2. A charging time constant determined by resistors R1, R2 and the capacitor C5 is set much longer than the period of closing of the transistors Q1, Q2 so that starting is accurately effected only when power is applied. This results in preventing the trigger diode from causing malfunction in an ordinary operation.
