Abstract

1485287 Tubular heat exchangers SOC ANON DES USINES CHAUSSON 8 Nov 1974 [9 Nov 1973] 48491/74 Heading F4S In a radiator in which tubes 2 are at their ends secured by a bonding material (e.g. a tin-lead alloy) in apertures 3 formed in a tube plate 1, the attachment of the tubes to the tube plates is strengthened by reinforcing plate members 5, see Fig. 2, which become partly embedded in the bonding material, the members 5 having therein apertures such as 9 through which the tube ends extend and which overlie at their edges collars 4 formed on the tube plate around the tube apertures 3. Preferably the reinforcing members 5 are spot-welded to the tube plates before the assembly is dipped into the bonding material. The tubes 2 may be of circular cross-section, or, as shown, of generally rectangular crosssection, the longer sides of the tube section being overturned as at 2a in Fig. 3, and the tubes being inflated immediately beneath the tube plates as indicated at 2b.
