Abstract

1394916 Rackets J SANTINI-ORMIERES R SPENLE and M CHERVIN 16 July 1973 [2 Aug 1972] 33740/73 Heading A6D A metal frame for a tennis or other racket includes two tubular metal elements of the required shape, at least one of which has, on one surface, depressions 3, which, when the elements are assembled one on top of the other, define spaces 5 for the passage and fixing of the interwoven strings (not shown). Preferably both elements are formed with matching depressions as shown in Fig 4. The frame is made by bending two metal tubes to the shape shown in Fig 1, stamping both tubular elements to form the depressions 3, and welding or brazing the elements together at 4. The depressions 3 may form holes 5 for single strings as shown in Fig 4, or may be elongated to form holes 5' for two or more strings, the strings then being positioned by perforations 6a in a strut or small plate 6 of synthetic material fixed to the outside edge of the frame as shown in Figure 8.
