Description

IMPROVEMENTS IN METHODSSOr ERECTING BUILDINGS WALLS CAST IN THE HORIZONTAL ANO SUBSEQUENTLY There is known and practised a method of righting present wall cast in horizontal position on the ground and to tilt them This method of righting the walls generally without specifying the kind of wall slabs to which the cation is it being understood that it can be applied to whatever kind of wall The present invention to special types of wall slabs to which the invention is Practice has shown that the righting of walls in the manner described in the said specification is advantageously practiced in the erection of industrial buildings such as sheds used for storing or for work shop In those cases pillars have been in at regular distances from one as is conventional and these pillars were provided with rafters or in most cases metal lattice work which were intended to carry the Between the erected columns walls were cast in the horizontal position on the ground and righted into the space between the according to the method described in the above named Thus erection of such buildings comprises two major operations The casting of pillars to form a skeleton carrying the roof Casting of wall labs in horizontal position and righting them in the empty spaces between the previously cast According to the present invention the method is simplified and the two above named major steps in the constructional opera tion are united into according to the invention there is cast on the ground a wall slab which along two edges those edges which in the erected position are in the is provided with thickening ribs running along the said edges on one of the faces of the the slab as a whole being reinforced either in the region of the said ribs or Thus there comes into existence a wall slab which at two oppositely disposed edges it the said ribs In fact forming columns after the erection or righting of the In some cases it might be required to have the uppermost edge of the wall strengthened and in fact to have it formed into a horizontal beam or girder which rests on and is integral with the said ribs forming In that case the slab is cast with thickening ribs along two oppositely disposed edges and along one edge which is normal to the said two previously mentioned Apart from these the wall slab is cast with the incorporation of hinge means as described in the above mentioned After righting of such a wall it will be found that a relatively thin wall slab extends between two upright columns and in those cases where the said beam portion has been cast a beam extends between the said columns and is supported by In this manner walls are cast in close relationship to one another so that after righting the whole wall of a shed or of whatever other building is produced including the columns which then can receive the load of rafters and roof The invention will now be described with reference to the annexed In the drawings 1 shows in a schematical view a wall slab cast according to the The major part of the floor is indicated by the numeral 1 while at two opposite edges thereof extend thickened rib like portion indicated by Both the major 45026 2 portion 1 and particularly the thickened portions 2 are reinforced by inserted steel rods 3 by any other conventional reinforcing means as might be Between the two thickened portions and normal may extend a further thickened portion 4 which is indicated in the drawing by broken lines since it may be provided or may be dispensed with according to the use to which the wall slab is to be From the wall slab extend at two opposite sides thereof spigots 5 which enter into eyes It is obvious that after tilting up the wall from the position shown in 1 the two thickened ribbed portions form upstanding columns which can receive the load of a While casting the thickened marginal portions at their top steel plates may be incorporated in the cast to which steel plates the lattice rafters can be It is clear that wall slabs of this kind may be cast on the ground close to one another so that after righting the whole length of the desired wall is obtained including the in a manner proceeding according to the above the neighbouring wall each having thickened columns part 2 at two opposite edges will result in columns which are actually composed of two vicinal ribs It would of course be within the scope of the invention to cast the slab with one rib portion 2 only so that the columns would be constituted by either the right hand or the left hand rib portion 2 of each The top girder or beam 4 is not always required but can be as has been explained in those cases where it is desirable to support the roof or whatever construction by such a Instead of producing pillars by casting them integrally the solution according to 2 may be again on sheets placed on the ground which are indicated by the numeral These sheets rest on the ground while on them or around them are placed frames 13 made of angle iron other as can be seen in The frames 13 are also provided with the eye plates 11 so that by passing a pin through the eye plates 11 of a floor slab and those of the frames these latter are connected with the floor After casting slabs in the either with more or less as the cast may and after setting of these casts the slabs together with their frames are righted and are connected at the vertical lines rising from the corners of the floor slabs Thus in this manner the walls are provided with the supporting formed by the steel insufficientOCRQuality

Claims (7)

WHAT IS CLAIMED IS
1. A method of erecting buildings with columns forming part of a skeleton for the intended building comprising the steps of casting on the ground, in horizontal position, wall slabs which are hingedly connected to a base, and which along at least one edge thereof (which eventually extends in the vertical) are provided with a thickened edge portion, righting the said wall slabs, and providing a roof carrying structure which is supported by the said thickened edge portions.
2. For use in the method of claim 1, a wall slab which at least along one of its edges is formed with a thickened rib.
3. The slab claimed in claim 2, characterised thereby £. that two parallel edges are formed as thickened ribs.
4. The slab claimed in claim 3, characterised by a further rib extending between and normal to the first named parallel ribs and being supported thereby.
5. A variation of the method of claim 1, characterised thereby that the said slab is cast in a frame which is hinged to a floor slab.
6. The method of claim 5 characterised thereby that the said frames are made of angle iron.
7. Buildings whenever constructed an any of the preceding claims.
