Claims (20)

44295/2 CLAIMS:
1. A nickel base alloy which consists, by weight, of: chromium 5 to -22%- aluminum 0. 2 to 8% titanium 0. 5 ■to 7% boron 0. 05 to 0.3% carbon less than 0.05% cobal 2 to 17% niobium 0 to 3% molybdenum 0 to 8% tantalum 0 to 10% vanadium 0 to 2% tungsten 0 to 20% rhenium .- 0 to 2% zirconium p to 1.0% the balance of the alloy being nickel, which constitutes from 35% to 85% by weight of. the alloy, -and minor amounts of impur ities and incidental elements which do not detrimentally affe the characteristics of the alloy.
2. A nickel base alloy according to claim 1, which contains : chromium 6 to 17% aluminum 2 to 8% titanium 0.5 to 7% boron 0.05 to 0.3% carbon less than 0.05% cobalt 2 to 17% niobium 0.25 to 3% molybdenum 0 to 3% tantalum 0 to 3% - 39 - 44295/2
3. A nickel base alloy according to claim 1, which contains: chromium 5 to 12% aluminum 2 to 8% titanium 0.5 to 7% boron 0.05 to 0.3% carbon less than 0.05 cobalt 5 to 15.5% molybdenum 3 to 8% tantalum 2.3 to 10% tungsten 0 to 2.5% zirconium 0 to 1% nickel 40 to 80%

A nickel base alloy according to claim 1, which comprises : ■ , chromium 8 to 10 .25 % aluminum 4. 75 to 5. 5% titanium 1 to 2. 5% boron 0. 05 to 0. 3% carbon less than 0.05 cobalt 8 to 12 % niobium 0. 75 to 1. 8% tungsten 11 . to 1 6% zirconium 0 to 0. 20% the balance of the alloy being nickel and minor amounts of impurities and incidental elements which do not detrimentally affect the characteristics of the alloy.

A nickel base alloy according to claim 1, which comprises : - 40 - 44295/2 chromium 7.5 to 8.5% aluminum 5.75 to 6.25% titanium 0.8 to 1.2% boron 0.05 to 0.3% carbon less than 0.05 cobalt 9.5 to 10.5% molybdenum 5.75 to 6.25% tantalum 4.0 to 4.5% zirconium 0.05 to 0.10% the balance of the alloy being nickel and minor amounts of impurities and incidental elements which do not detrimentally affect the characteristics of the alloy.
6. A nickel base alloy according to claim 1, which contains : chromium 5 to 12% aluminum 2 to 8% titanium 0.5 to 7% boron 0.05 to 0. , 3% carbon less than 0.05% cobalt 2 to 17% niobium 0 to 3% molybdenum 0 to 8% tantalum 0 to 3% vanadium 0 to 2% tungsten less than 2.5% nickel 40 tc 1- 80%
7. A nickel base alloy according to claim 6, which contains essentially no tungsten or vanadium.
8. The nickel base alloy of claim 1 wherein the molybdenum content is 0.00 to 3% and the tungsten content is 5 to 20%.
9. The nickel base alloy of claim 1 wherein the molybdenum content is 3 to 8%, the tungsten content is 2,5%, and the tantalum content is 2.3 to 10%.
10. The nickel base alloy of claim 1 wherein the cobalt content is 5 to 15.5% cobalt.
11. A nickel base alloy according to claim 1, which contains : chromium 5 to 22% aluminum 0.2 to 8% titanium 0.5 to 7% boron 0.05 to 0.3% carbon less than 0.05% cobalt 5 to 15.5% niobium 0 to 3% molybdenum 0 to 3% tantalum 0 to 10% tungsten 0 to 20% nickel 40 to 80%.
12. The nickel base alloy of claim 11 wherein the chromium content is 5 to 12% and the tungsten content is 5 to 20%.
13. The alloy of claim 11, which contains, on a weight basis, about 2.3% to about 10% tantalum.
14. - The alloy of claim 13, which contains, on a weight basis, 5 to 20% tungsten.
15. The alloy of claim 11, which contains, on a weight basis, less than 3% tantalum.
16. A nickel base alloy according to any one of the preceding claims in which the boron content is from 0.07 to 0.25%.
17. A nickel base alloy according to any one of the preceding claims in which the carbon content is not more than 0.025% by weight.
18. A nickel base alloy substantially as herein described with reference to any of the Example alloys designated A-2, B-2, C-6 to C-12, D-l, E-4 to E-9 , and F-l.
19. A cast component for use in a gas turbine engine formed of an alloy according to any one of the preceding claims.
20. A cast component according to claim 19, in which the component is a turbine blade, a disc, or an. integral wheel comprising a disc and turbine blades.
