Abstract
1475711 Carbide reinforced alloys GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 10 May 1974 [1 June 1973] 20864/74 Heading C7A A unidirectionally solidified anisotropic superalloy composite body based on Ni or Co, contains 2-9% Re, less than 0À8% Ti and 0À1-1À3% C as the matrix with Ta up to 20%, W up to 10% and/ or V up to 10% in the form of aligned monocarbide eutectic reinforcing fibrous phase. Overall compositions for making the bodies are:- Al 2 to less than 8À6% - C 0À1-1% 0À5-1À3% Co up to 10% balance Cr 3 to less than 10% up to 20% Mo up to 3% - Nb less than 3% - Re 2-9% 2-9% Ni balance 5-20% Ta 3-15% 7-20% Ti less than 0À8% - V up to 10% - W up to 10% up to 8% apart from incidental impurities in each case. The bodies may be used in gas turbine engines.
