Claims (3)

1. A sealed electrical contact unit which can be magnetically actuated, and which includes a flat housing consisting of a plane base plate and a cover with a flanged portion attached to the base plate, and a flat armature of a ferro-magnetic material within the housing, in which the armature is mounted "bo the cover by an armature holding spring, in which the said base plate consists of a ring-shaped outer portion and a disc-shaped inner portion both of which are made of metal, in which said outer and inner portions are joined together by a ring of an electrically and magnetically non-conductive material, in which the inner surfaces of said ring-shaped outer portion and said discshaped inner portion are substantially co-planar, and in which the armature faces part of the inner portion as well as part of the outer portion.
2. A sealed contact unit according to claim 1, and in which said inner portion is arranged eccentrically within said outer portion. 3. A sealed contact unit according to claim 1, or 2, and in which the cover is joined to said base plate by an annular sealing weld. 4. A sealed contact unit according to claim 1, and in which the parts of the housing are hermetically joined to one another. 5. A sealed contact unit according to claim 1, 2, 3 or 4 , and in which the surface of the armature cooperating with said inner portion has a bulged or spherical design. An electromagnet relay comprising sealed contact units according to any one of claiEis 1 to 12 , in which two contact units and an electromagnet are agnetically in series, and in which said contact units have their base plates opposedly facing one another with a permanent magnet between them. 17., A relay according to claira IS, and in which a magnetically conductive pin carrying the jnagnetising winding is applied to the inner portions of the contact units. 18 A relay according to claim IS, and in which the surfaces of the inner portions which face each other have welded to them magnetically conductive stamped metal parts which are arranged adjacent to each other and vertically to the plane of said base plates, and are surrounded by a common magnetising winding* 19., A relay according to claim 18, and in which each said stamped metal port also forms a soldering lug or terminal for bringing out one of the electrical connections radially in relation to the contact units. 43597/2 20. A relay according to any one of claims 25 to 28, in which the centre portion of said U-shaped flux guide consists of two parallel legs on each of which there is one coil which coils are controlled separately. 31. A relay according to any one of claims 13 to 30 , in which said inner portions and/or said covers of the Individual contact units have soldering lugs or terminals for leading out the electrical connections radially to said contact units. 32. A relay according to any one or more of claims 16 to 31, and in which the current-conducting parts of said two oppositely arranged contact units are separated from one another by means of insulating foils or a suitable plastics coating. 33. A sealed contact unit substantially as described with reference to Figs. 1, 2 and 3, or Fig. 4, or Fig* 5, or Fig. 6, or Fig. 7, of the accompanying drawings.
