Abstract

1. A drive for service vehicles having an engine and a gear-shift transmission securely connected thereto, a rear-axle gear, and in a special case also a front-axle gear and where appropriate a retarder, the entire driving train being arranged in an underfloor design, characterized in that the engine (3) arranged between the front axle (4) and the rear axle (5) is connected to a gear-shift transmission (6) arranged immediately before the front axle (4), the drive (8) of the said gear-shift transmission (6) being provided in the opposite direction to the engine drive or alternatively being connected by means of a separate reverse gear (7, 7') by way of shafts (10, 12, 15, 18, 19) to the rear-axle gear (13) end optionally also to a front-axle gear or to both the rear-axle gear end the front-axle gear.

Description

57542 The Invention relates to a drive for service vehicles having an engine and a gear-shift transmission securely connected thereto, a rear-axle gear, and in a special case also a front-axle gear and where appropriate a retarder, the entire driving train being arranged in an under floor design. 5 Under floor drives for service vehicles are generally known, but only for vehicles with a specific minlmua wheel base, so that this advantageous use of the underfloor drive only applies to conventional means of transport, namely lorries with loading ramps and where appropriate with a trailer, while in the case of lorries with a short wheel base and in particular seal-trailer trucks, 10 which are coming onto the market to an increasing extent, It has not been possible until now to Integrate the particularly advantageous form of the drive on account of the insufficiently long wheel bases.

The shaft (18) is connected to a cardan shaft (19) which drives the rear-axle gear (13). Other driven elements such as a retarder or drive for the front axle can also of course be connected to the reverse gear (7, 7').

Claims; A drive for service vehicles having an engine and a gear-shift transmission securely connected.thereto, a rear-axle gear, and in a special case also a front-axle gear and where appropriate a retarder, the entire driving train being arranged in an underfloor design, characterized in that the engine arranged between the front axle and the rear axle is connected to a gear-shift transmission arranged immediately in front of the front axle, the drive of the said gear-shift transmission being provided in the opposite direction to the engine drive or alternatively being connected by means of a separate reverse gear by way of shafts to the rear-axle gear and optional ly also to a front-axle gear or to bo.th the rear-axle gear and the front-axle gear.
