Abstract
The pulley block has a hook shaped block (4) suspended from an upper block (1) by two parallel arms. The free ends of the arms (6) are bent at right angles to form one part of a pair of locking jaws into an L-shape. This part is pivoted between the two arms and the second jaw part (7) engages the upper face of a beam (A) web. The weight of the hook block and the load places the jaws in contact with the lower web face to grip it. A bolt (10) forms a stop for the L-shaped jaw.
