Abstract

The latch (4) comprises a flat plate with a central hole for the lifting hook. At each end is a catch, this being a square section bar formed to a V-shape and welded on opposite sides of the plate to leave a gap between. The sling (1) is a cable with ferrules (2) or similar fixed at intervals along its length. In use, a ferrule at one end of the sling is placed in the one V-shaped shank, the cable passing through the gap; the other end is passed round the load (3) and the nearest suitable ferrule similarly placed in the other V-shape shank.
