Abstract
1495755 Purifying waste water TELECOMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRIES Inc 4 Dec 1974 [7 Jan 1974] 52468/74 Heading C1C [Also in Division B1] Waste water is purified in an apparatus comprising an equalization tank, a settling tank, a weir in the settling tank, means for transferring waste water from the equalization tank to the weir, means for introducing a coagulating agent to the settling tank, a flocculation tank, a submerged weir extending between the settling tank and the flocculation tank for permitting flow of waste water from the settling tank to the flocculation tank, means for adding polyelectrolyte to the waste water in the vicinity of the submerged weir, means for slowly stirring the waste water in the flocculation tank, a clarification tank, a second submerged weir for permitting the passage of waste water from the flocculation tank to the clarification tank, the clarification tank having an outlet therein, a lamellar device disposed within the clarification tank between the second submerged weir and the outlet for removing suspended solids from the waste water, a vertically extending ozonationsonication tower having an inlet adjacent its upper end and an outlet adjacent its bottom, means for transferring waste water from the outlet of the clarification tank to the inlet for the tower, means for introducing ozone into the tower, means below the tower inlet and above the means for introducing ozone into the tower for imparting sonic energy to the tower at a power level sufficient to cause cavitation in water within the tower.
