Abstract
1316930 Refrigerating; defrosting PET Inc 28 Oct 1971 [30 Oct 1970] 50242/71 Heading F4H A compression refrigeration system comprises a plurality of evaporators 21 ... 24 which are selectively defrosted by a hot gas flow from the compressor 10 after interruption of the normal compressor flow to the condenser 14 by means of a solenoid valve 32 and a differential valve 34 in the high pressure side between the compressor and condenser to create a pressure differential in the system upstream of the liquid refrigerant receiver 17. This pressure differential promotes hot gas flow through any one or more of the evaporators, e.g. 23 and 24, and the resultant liquid refrigerant is passed via conduits 35, one way valves 36 and a common condensate header 37 back to the high pressure side of the system. The header 37 may be connected to the high pressure side of the system between the differential valve 34 and condenser, to a liquid-vapour separator, or between the condenser and receiver.
