A collar 22 of heat shrinkable material, e.g. P.V.C., polyethylene or polypropylene is severed by means 21 from tubing 17 intermittently advanced by rolls 19, and located about the neck 13 of a toothpaste tube; heat is applied to the collar, e.g. by the residual heat of the tube after leaving an oven and/or by a heater 23, causing it to shrink about the threads. A threaded closure cap is then screwed on to the neck to complete the shaping of the covering. [GB1286359A]
