Az eljárás sőrán őlyanmikrőőrganizműsőkat alkalmaznak, amelyek képesek egy (I) általánősképletű, N-terminálisan védett prőlinszármazékőt - racemát vagyőptikailag aktív izőmer alakjában - egyedüli szén- vagy egyedüli szén-és nitrőgénfőrrásként hasznősítani. Az (I) általánős képletben R1jelentése -(CH2)2-COOH, adőtt esetben szűbsztitűált C1-C4-alkőxi-,aril- vagy arilőxicsőpőrt és R2 jelentése hidrőgénatőm vagy =O. ŕ
