Abstract

A panel collector (see Figure 2) whose collecting surface (3) is located within the heat transfer liquid (2) and which has a geometric structure which ensures total energy absorption of the solar rays falling on it. The collector also has the usual insulation (1) and transparent, heat loss limiting cover (5). It functions in an (preferably) open circuit. Solar rays passing through the heat loss limiting cover (5) and transparent upper part of the heat transfer liquid flow area (4), arrives by way of the (transparent) heat transfer liquid (2) at the collector surface elements (3), where successive refraction occurs, passing on to them the total transferred energy. The produced heat is captured by the heat transfer liquid circulating in the pipes (2) formed by the elements of the collector surface. Flow is vertical at the level of figure 2. The collector provides passive protection against freezing (see figure 4). Flat, concave elements of flexible material (5), located in the elements of the collector surface, as well as on the walls of the collector, absorb expansion caused by freezing of the heat transfer liquid, preventing the destruction of the collector.
