Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of general formula <FORM:0999590/C2/1> where m is 0 or 1, n is 1 or 3, R1 is CN or CONH2, and R2 is a furyl or tetrahydrofuryl radical or, when m is 0 and n is 1, a vinyl or 1propenyl radical; and their preparation by reacting a compound of formula Naphthyl-(CH2)m-CH2-CN or R2-(CH2)n-CH2-CN with an alkali metal condensing agent and condensing the resulting alkali metal derivative with a compound R2-(CH2)n-X or Naphthyl-(CH2)m-X respectively (where X is halogen), so forming the above nitriles which may then be hydrolysed with a substantially equimolar quantity of an alkali in the presence of an alcohol to yield the amides.
