A gas turbine power plant comprises a combustion chamber having an air intake for feeding air thereto from an ambient medium when the medium contains oxygen to support combustion, a first reservoir containing fuel and having an outlet to the combustion chamber, a second reservoir containing either oxidiser or a monofuel and having an outlet to the combustion chamber, means being provided for regulating the air intake and the outlets from the reservoirs so as to provide either a combustible air/fuel mixture, a combustible fuel/ oxidiser mixture, a combustible air/fuel/ oxidiser mixture, or in the case where monofuel is contained in the second reservoir, monofuel in the combustion chamber, there being a gas turbine drivable by the products of combustion. In Fig. 1 the combustion chamber 1 is connected to an air reservoir 2b having an inlet for air under pressure, a reservoir 4 containing fuel such as kerosene, and a reservoir 6 containing an oxidiser such as liquid hydrogen peroxide. The ducts leading from the reservoirs to the combustion chamber have valves 9, 10 and 8 whereby either fuel and air, or fuel and oxidiser or fuel and air and oxidiser may be supplied to the chamber. The gases from the chamber 1 pass to the turbine 12 which drives a shaft 35. In Fig. 2 the combustion chamber 13 is annular and has inlets 14, 15 and 16 for the supply of fuel, of oxidiser or monopropellant, and of air respectively, the inlets being controlled by valves 19, 21 and 20. Air enters the intake duct 18 and passes through one or more compressors 17 before passing to the inlet 16. Gases from the combustion chamber pass into a turbine 23 which drives the shaft 24, the exhaust gases from the turbine passing through duct 28 and propulsion nozzle 27. Alternatively by adjustment of the deflectors some or all of the gases from the combustion chamber may be passed directly to the propulsion nozzle.
