Abstract

1489339 Gas turbine combustion chambers ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd 28 Nov 1974 [30 Nov 1973] 55609/73 Heading F1L A gas turbine combustion chamber includes a primary fuel injector 40 with a primary fuel and air mixing zone 30 and a secondary fuel injector 52 with a secondary fuel and air mixing zone 48 surrounding the primary zone 30 and communicating therewith via an apertured plate 54 at the downstream end of the secondary zone 48. As shown, the fuel is fed via valves 62, 64 controlled at 66 so that at start-up fuel is fed to the primary injector only, and the primary fuel/air ratio is substantially stoichiometric. After initially increasing the primary fuel flow to increase power, the primary flow is suddenly partially reduced and power maintained by secondary fuel flow.
