Abstract
749,050. Jet propulsion plant. MINISTER OF SUPPLY. Feb. 10, 1953 [Feb. 13, 1952], No. 3891/52. Class 110(3) In a jet reaction motor, fuel, such as kerosene, and oxidant, such as hydrogen peroxide, from containers (26 and 27) are fed to a combustion chamber (30) under pressure from a fluid in a vessel (11), a main valve (18) lying between the pressure source and said containers and opening automatically when the pressure on the outlet side reaches a given value less than that on its inlet side, the main valve being by-passed by a restriction (21) controlled by a starter valve (20). Opening the starter valve causes fuel and oxidant to be supplied to, and ignited in, the chamber 30, whereupon the pressure on the outlet side of the valve 18 rises to a point where the valve opens. To close the valve an explosive valve 17 may be operated. The type of main valve employed is described in Specification 706,637 [Group XXIX]. Two or more similar main valves may be provided, operating at different pressures so as to give several stage running.
