Abstract
793,689. Generating combustion products under pressure. DE HAVILLAND ENGINE CO., Ltd. May 25, 1954 [June 19, 1953], No. 17116 /53. Class 51 (1). [Also in Group XXVI] In a rocket motor employing hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant and a liquid fuel, such as kerosine or ammonia, the hydrogen peroxide circulates round the combustion chamber as a coolant and part is subsequently decomposed and supplied to a turbine driving the auxiliary devices. As shown, hydrogen peroxide is drawn from tank 11 by the low-pressure pump 15 and circulated through the cooling spaces 25, 26 of the nozzle 24 and combustion chamber 10 to the high-pressure pump 16 which introduces the oxidant simultaneously to the chamber 10 through the catalyst elements 40 and to the turbine 22 through the catalyst 23. Fuel is drawn from tank 12 by the pump 19 and passes to 10 through the valve 51 which controls the delivery of fuel to injectors 36, 37, 38.
