Abstract

1397114 I C engine fuel injectors AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT 8 June 1972 [8 July 1971] 26673/72 Heading FIB [Also in Division F2] The injector needle 4 is continuously subject to fuel under pressure e.g. from an injection pump, in a chamber 9 and alternately subject to fuel under pressure and a lower pressure, e.g. substantially atmospheric pressure, in a chamber 5. An electromagnetically controlled valve 18 subject at opposite ends to the same pressure, e.g. the fuel supply pressure, connects the chamber 5 to the fuel supply pressure when the electromagnet 13 is deenergized and to the lower pressure when energized via the valve chamber 23. Calibrated passages 11 and 26 are provided in the flow paths to the chambers 9 and 5 to restrict the rate of fuel flow. The connector 1b is connected to the fuel injection pump and the connector 29 to an enclosure at the lower pressure.
