Abstract
999,386. Valves. MEDICINSK APPARATSERVICE A,B. April 9, 1962 [April 11, 1961], No. 13635/62. Heading F2V. A valve is formed with a base 1 for threaded connection to a respirator, which base incorporates an annular seat la; a tube 3 upstanding from the base is closed by a cover 6 depending from which is a pin 5 that guides a receivable spindle 4. A ring 7 slidable between the spindle 4 and tube 3 determines the loading of a spring 9 urging a movable closure disc 2 on to the seat 1 the ring 7 is positioned through knobs 10 projecting through slots in the tube and is retained in any given location by a friction ring 8. Upward motion of the ring 7 is defined by a stop on the spindle 4. Two further slots are provided in the tube 3, adjacent each of which is a scale whereby in conjunction with the position of the ring the fluid pressure is controlled. The valve may be additionally loaded by depressing an annulus 12, 14 on top of the tube 3 whereby the spindle 4 abuts the disc 2 under the loading of a spring 13. To remove this extra loading the annulus 12, 14 is raised and the spindle 4 is lifted by one or more balls 11 against the spring 13 until the balls 11 are forced into a groove in the pin 5 by an oblique surface on the annulus member 12; the spindle 4 embodies holes through which the balls 11 engage the pin 5. The valve may be opened directly by lifting a ring 15 on the exterior of the tube 3 which ring through screws 16 unseats the disc 2 to ventilate the system.
