Abstract
A core of stranded steel wires for a cable is stress relieved by electrical induction heating, and then has a plurality of wires, or a plurality of stranded wires stranded there around to form the cable, with at least the outer wires of the cable being stress relieved by electrical induction heating. The core and cable after being heated in a nitrogen atmosphere are quenched by a water spray. The wires may be coated with aluminium or zinc.
