Abstract

998,811. Disintegrating ammunition belts. RHEINMETALL G.m.b.H. July 2, 1964 [July 19, 1963], No. 27333/64. Heading F3C A disintegrating ammunition belt for automatic weapons comprises in combination a plurality of separate, similar belt links each adjusted to receive a single cartridge 7, separable lugs 6 on each link and a spherical coupling member 5 on each link. The coupling member lies on the central axis of the belt and is adapted to be embraced and held by the lugs on an adjacent link when a cartridge is inserted in the latter. Each link comprises two semicircular clips 1 interconnected by a curved bridge-like strap 2. On introduction of a cartridge into a link the curve in straps 2 is eliminated and the cup-like lugs 6 are forced towards one another so as to grip the member 5. When a cartridge is expelled from a link the lugs 6 open due to the tension in the strap 2, whereby connection with the next link is broken.
