Abstract

1,023,268. Helmets. W. W. BALL & SONS Ltd. Feb. 10, 1965, No. 5795/65. Heading A3V. A safety helmet comprises a shell, a head receiving cradle secured directly to the shell and at least one shock absorbing webbing connected to the shell through the intermediary of resilient means. The straps 13 of the cradle are moulded integrally with the headband 14 and are releasably secured to the shell by plastics strips 18 the ends of which being shaped to fit into recesses provided in the shell. Two webbings 9, 10 of reinforced plastics material have looped ends fitted with a resilient washer 11 which is apertured for screwing the webbings to the shell. The ajustable headband 14 has a series of apertures 21 at one end for selectively engaging studs on the other end and loops 22 for the passage of a resilient strip 23.
