Abstract

1335001 Chain links GUANITO BARBAGELATA SpA 14 March 1972 11854/72 Heading F2Q A link 1 for a naval or industrial chain is formed of a length of steel cable constricted into a figure 8 shape so as to form two equal (not shown) or unequal (as shown) loops, an oval or circular thimble 3 or 4 being entrapped in one of the loops, this being the smaller loop in the link having unequal loops. The overlap junction of the two ends of the length of steelcable is effected by a single mechanical splice 2 (as shown) or manual splice (not shown) on three diameters of the cable and additionally forms the constriction of the link. Alternatively (Fig. 5, not shown) the link is closed by a splice (6) and is constricted into a figure 8 shape by a separate spaced binding (7).
