Abstract

998,791. Double-twist spindles. BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. Dec. 17, 1962 [Dec. 16, 1961], No. 47566/62. Heading D1D. In a double-twist spindle comprising a stationary carrier for two or more rotatable packages arranged side-by-side from which the threads are drawn off tangentially to be ballooned around the package, the spindle proper stops short of the adjacent package, the packages are supported for movement transversely of their axes on elements arranged on a fixer part, and a freely rotatable cylindrical support is provided against which the packages can bear with pressure. In the inclined two-package arrangement shown, the packages are mounted on discs 3, 4 carried by a fixed part 1 to slide, under the pressure of spring- hinged rollers 15, 16, towards a two rotatable cylindrical supports 10,11. These are mounted on pivots 6, 7, 8, 9 in the member 1 and an endplate 5 of a member 2 also carried by the part 1. Fixed or rotatable thread guide rods 19, 20 or eyelets are arranged between the parts 1 and 5 and balloon-restricting rings may be carried by the members 3, 4, 5. The supports 10,11 may be arranged to move inwardly as the packages are unwound as also may be a member simular to the supports which may replace the spring- pressed rollers 15, 16. The members 10,11,15,16 being rotatable equalize the rates at which the yarns are withdrawn. A horizontal arrangement is described, Fig. 7 not shown, in which the discs are replaced by plates with U-guides for the sleeves of the packages, while the rollers 15, 16 are dispensed with, the packages moving by gravity.
