1386309 Synthetic filaments NEUMUNSTERSCHE MASCHINENUND APPARATEBAU GmbH 12 May 1972 [14 May 1971] 22511/72 Heading B5B A machine for spinning synthetic filament yarns comprises at least one row of vertical spinning ducts, each duct being adapted to spin a plurality of filaments and issue them in a plane common to each of the ducts of a respective row, and a winding assembly for each spinning duct for winding on the filaments from that duct individually, each winding assembly having a plurality of winding spindles mounted in a respective row extending substantially perpendicularly to the plane so that the spindles are progressively spaced from the plane and disposed within a spacing defined by the spacing between its respective duct and an adjacent duct. As shown, a group of eight filaments 35 from a spinning duct (not shown) are guided past preparation rollers 3 and 4 on a machine mounting frame 1 to take-off rollers 5 and 6, and then travel over preheating godets 7 and 8, and past stretching pins 9 in the stretching zone, to arrive at fixing godets 10 and 11. Casing 12, sealed by a labyrinth seal 13, prevents heat losses. The filaments are then guided over a finishing unit 14, having adjustable guide bars 15 and 16, to the guide rollers 17 to 20, which are vertically staggered so that the filaments travelling to the more remote guide rollers avoid contact with the nearer rollers. From each of the guide rollers, two filaments are guided to the winding units 22 to 29 which are in the form of pivotal bobbin holders. In each winding unit, two bobbins 30 and 31 pivot about a point 32 so that driving roller 33 which, with increasing package diameter, is deflected in the direction of the arrow, drives the particular bobbin which is in operation, the filament being guided through a traversing mechanism 34. The use of pivotal bobbin holders enables packages to be automatically changed. Figs. 3 and 4 (not reproduced) show layouts of the winding assemblies in relation to the spinning ducts.
