997,659. Sharpening tools. SOC. A.T.A.M., S.A.R.L. July 26, 1961 [July 30, 1960], No. 27014/61. Heading B3D. A device for sharpening knives, scissors or other hand tools comprises two flexible abrasivecoated discs 1 loosely mounted on a shaft 4 in face to face relation with their rim portions angulated to provide a V-shaped recess for receiving the tool, the discs being held in contact by springs 6, the tension of which is adjustable by nuts 9. The discs, which are covered with abrasive cloth, may be formed of rubber or plastic with a peripheral reinforcing ring 2 and internal reinforcing core 8. The shaft 4 is motor driven.
