996,993. Donnlng-apparatus. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. Feb. 26, 1964 [Dec. 3, 1962], No. 45687/62. Heading D1D. Apparatus for feeding empty bobbins to the spindles of a textile machine, comprises a carriage arranged to move along the spindle-row, a rotary feed member on the carriage to feed empty bobbins in turn from a supply on the carriage to a delivery position on the carriage in which the bobbin is in line with a spindle, the feed-member being so driven in response to, or in predetermined relation to, movement of the carriage past the spindle, that the feed member positions the empty bobbin in line with the bobbin at the delivery position so that the bobbin is released from the feed-member for engagement with the spindle. As shown, the carriage embodies a container from which bobbins are fed down an inclined shoot 13 from which they are pushed up in turn by slotted wheels 17,18 rotated stepwise as a toothed wheel 15 engages successive spindles as the carriage moves. The bobbins are guided by a curved plate 19 as the wheels 17, 18 rotate on to a platform 16 so that the foremost bobbin is supported on the edge of a recess above the spindle to be donned, from which it falls on to the spindle with further rotation of the wheels. A roller &c. on the carriage may be used to seat the bobbins firmly on their spindles.
