Abstract
1,040,239. Labelling machines. MORGAN FAIREST Ltd. April 15, 1965 [Jan. 18, 1964], No. 2294/64. Heading B8F. Bottles having a locating pip 16 are fed from a slat conveyer 1 to a rotary table 6 for movement through the labelling station by a star wheel which orientates the bottles until they are correctly positioned about their axis as they are clamped to the table 6 by presser heads 8. The star wheel has pockets 19 with antifriction bearings 20 by which the bottles are conveyed over a dead plate in contact with a guide plate 24 provided with a spring-urged friction surface 21 which causes the battle to rotate about its axis until the pip 16 contacts a projection 34. The bottle then slides over the surface 21 until it reaches the table 6 and is clamped thereon by a presser head 8 at which point the arm 37 mounting the projection 34 is cammed to an inoperative position to allow free passage of the bottle. Labelling is effected by flaps and brushes and the bottles are returned to the conveyer 1. The projections 34 are adjustable mounted and the guide plate 24 and star wheel are replaceable to allow adaption for different-sized bottles and different positioning of the bottles.
